The Slits: Cut (remastered and expanded)

2 CD release featuring the complete remastered debut album by the Slits along with a bunch of bonus tracks and outtakes. Classic reggae inflected post punk weirdness.

I've got that expanded edition. The Peel Sessions are the best part of the bonus stuff, and the rest is, naturally, pretty superfluous.

I haven't listened to it much but it's pretty forgettable. Easily his worst album under the Pernice Brothers name.

Here It is The Honky Tonk "Holy Grail." Coveted, rare and brilliant, Johnny Paycheck's 1960s recordings for the Little Darlin' label are sometimes dangerous, sometimes stunningly beautiful, oftentimes both. Paycheck was the real deal, life and the recording studio revealed a man tortured and talented beyond compare. Paycheck cut his teeth on the road with the likes of Porter Wagoner and George Jones (some even insist that Jones copped his style, and Wagoner his content from Paycheck) until he burned out and hit skid row. Maverick producer Aubrey Mayhew discovered him sleeping it off under a bridge in Nashville, dusted Paycheck off and began the astounding story contained herein. Apocalyptic visions, murder/suicides, delirium, insanity and an awful lot of drinking - such was the haunting darkness that followed Johnny Paycheck...Most tracks make their first official appearance on CD.

Tracks include:

(It's a Mighty Thin Line) Between Love and Hate
(Pardon Me) I've Got Someone To Kill
It Won't Be Long (And I'll Be Hating You)
He's In a Hurry (To Get Home To My Wife)
Don't Monkey With Another Man's Monkey
Nowhere to Run
Don't Tell My Wife
Two Candles, One Dinner and A Bottle
Then Love Dies
Where All Good Daddies Go
There's No Easy Way To Die
The Pint of No Return
I've Got Wine On My Mind
If I'm Gonna Sink (I Might As Well Go to the Bottom)
The Late and Great Me

Kontext: Dissociate

Full length from the Russian producer Deep, dark amalgam of moody techno, ambient and dubstep. Atmospheric with some serious bass. One of my favorites of this ilk I've come across in some time.
