Granted I wasn't really watching until late in the day Sunday but just seeing clips and whatnot all weekend, I could have sworn that PGA was being played on the Pacific Ocean somewhere with all the cliffs and whatnot. Big Sur is apparently located in Wisconsin. Who knew?

I had to look up Whistling Straits just now. Beautiful location, and I guess it's owned by Kohler ("world-leader in toilet manufacture").

On one had I totally agree with you, it was bullshit what happened to him, he said himself he didn't realize he was in a bunker, he thought it was dirt. On the other hand the PGA's explanation actually made total sense. They made it known to players that every single bunker on the course, whether or not it was in an area where the crowd may have trampled was to be played as a bunker and all the rules that govern normal bunkers were in play for each an every bunker.

The PGA can consider their asses covered with this rule on the tournament rule sheet:

Quote:
Bunkers: All areas of the course that were designed and built as sand bunkers will be played as bunkers whether or not they have been raked. This will mean that many bunkers positioned outside of the ropes and some inside the ropes, close to the rope line, will likely include numerous footprints, have tire tracks during the play of the Championship. Such irregularities of surface are a part of the game.

Note: Where necessary, blue dots define the margin of a bunker.

Still, afterwards, even rules official David Price was ambiguous at best when he was trying to decide if it was a bunker or not before they made the ruling. There is also the distinction of bunkers and waste bunkers. The whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and the baseball metaphor of "tie goes to the runner" kept running through my head. With so much ambiguity and subjectiveness going on in the heat of the moment, I think they should've let it go.............with the tie going to the runner.

Derris, it would be a bigger controversy IMHO if he hadn't subsequently missed the putt there on 18.

It would've gone from bad to Greek tragedy.

Johnson even said in his post round interview that the only way it could've been worse if he'd actually made that putt.

Another point worth talking about was the fact that while Johnson was hitting, there were in fact people standing inside the bunker that he was actually hitting out of. If he had seen the entire lay of the land and realized, hey, this is a bunker I'm standing in...maybe it would have been different.

If I was Dustin I'd would have been pretty furious about the whole thing...like you said it was a heat of the moment and very much a subjective issue...and all those people surrounding him made it even more difficult to judge what was going on.

my fucking pinched nerve and disc is acting up again. Felt a little tight, so I stretched my arms above me head. That was enough to pinch the nerve (old injury). It really blows not having a full range of motion in your neck and upper/mid back and feeling a constant radiating numb pain in your shoulders and arms.

My 35 year old brother "graduates" from his heroin rehab program this Sunday. I've never seen such a huge transition in character and demeanor in my life, and I've worked specifically with drug addicts in the past. I am very pleased. Hopeful, skeptical, and pleased.

They say that if someone with heroin addiction can stay clean for a year they still only have an 85% chance of never going back. Considering it's heroin we're talking about, that's not the best stat ever.

I haven't seen him in months. It was enjoyable.

I've a feeling that my parents are quite happy to see him.

Rest in peace, ol' boy. Mama loved you very much.

Terribly sorry to hear of this, Tania. My sincere condolences.

Thanks, all.

He had to take a personality test/assessment. He said, "yeah, I smoked it". To which I replied, "um, I am guessing that's against the rules".

Insensitivity, WIN?

how come so many bands are covering When In Rome's "The Promise" lately? I feel like I've been hearing it like 2x a week lately.
