Quote:
The Dawg Years is a collection of 20 Foley songs, recorded when his moniker was Deputy Dawg. They were cut during three different living room sessions between February of 1976 and September of 1978. They may or may not be his first recordings, but they are from the very beginning of the myth and legend that he became. They were intimately cut at the home of Margery & Billy Bouris and sat in the back of a closet for 25 years. This is the first time they've been released in total -- 20 tracks worth. Despite the fact that these were cut in mono, and a baby can be heard crying through some of it, the fidelity is excellent, and the performances -- some with sparse dialogue--are startlingly present, emotionally taut and quietly intense.

Can't speak highly enough about this one after only 1 listen. RIYL Townes and that dirty road of fundamental American music.

Sounds interesting for sure. I'll have to look for it.

Is this the new one? I got it yesterday, and it's pretty bleagh. Not real familiar with AS, but heard that Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) was playing drums, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Not my kind of tunes- kinda :wanker: if you ask me.

It's their new one and their mellowest by far....Portnoy is playing with them on tour too, since their drummer died as recording started...

i don't think it's bad, but they are attempting to sell out badly!

Just about to give this a first-ever listen:

But, I'm pretty excited about it, as everything I've been reading makes it sound like something that I've been needing to hear for a long time. Hope that it lives up to expectations.
