saw these guys last night and they brought it. i was impressed.

i am seeing them this weekend, have heard good things, but not sure i'd know any of their music.

As much as I want to, I simply cannot get all the way through one listen of The Monitor.

why?

they put on one of the best live shows i've seen this year.

I think it's a combination of things. The length of the songs, the guy's vocals, and the feeling that something special is coming, but never quite does. This has no relationship at all to the quality of their live show.

i know, that was just an addition on my part.

i can see how the vocals would get annoying. i usually dislike really long songs too, but for me, these seem to negate that because they keep my interest whether through the lyrics or just little things they add to the songs.

They were excellent opening for Ted Leo last year. Really want to check them out again.

I've enjoyed both albums, especially "The Battle of Hampton Roads", which was my gym listening for an embarrassing amount of time.

The dude's vocals do get a little Oberstian for my tastes at times, but I try to just ignore it.

they weren't on the west coast with Ted Leo, but they'll be at Fuck Yeah Fest, so there's that.

Yeah, I'm gonna try to see them when they hit DC.

I just bought tix to the Atlanta show with the same line up. Looking forward to it. I've been really digging the new one (from Titus).

Can't beat seeing both those bands for $10.

For $10 I'd definitely go but I think the show here is around $18.

Still, that's $18 to see 2 bands you've really enjoyed live, right? GO FOR IT.

i really enjoyed titus andronicus live. people have said that free energy are really good live but i thought the album was kind of lame.

The Monitor is definitely my favorite album this year. I just saw they're coming to Denver and tickets are 10 bucks, even though I already saw them play a free show. It's irresponsible not to go.

What don't you like about Royale? I've never been, but just curious.

i haven't been there since they reopened as royale but it was just kind of annoying to get to before and way overpriced drinks. basically, a dance club that has shows. i'm probably going to go but it starts at 6pm and i think will be over before 10 so they can let the eurodouches in to dance and do coke.

Missed free energy since there's no parking around here unless you want to pay $20 and I had to walk half a mile. Paid $11 for a jameson and ginger. Fuck this place.

i went last night. that place sucks. never mind the drinks, it's the worst sounding room i have ever heard.
