I like this site, but the problem with menswear blogs in general is that they all adhere to these "rules" and idealized actualizations of them like Steve McQueen. It's a semi interesting phenomenon that they all seem to have the same influences and ape the same style.

I sexually just bought a 3 piece suit - cant wait to get it back from the tailor.

I may have popped this link up before, but here it is again:

http://www.acontinuouslean.com

The guy is gaga over Americana, and fashion inspired as such. But I think its pretty good for looking at various fashionables--especially his links on the side.

*edit*

ironically this is on the first page:

Yeah - that whole Americana thing is the jack off special for this types.

Billy Reid is based in Florence, AL of all places. I have a pretty sweet belt buckle from them (Alabama flag - silver with wood inlays) but you have to be about 5'6"/120 to fit any of their clothes.

Was in a big box department store yesterday spending a gift card and Polo now has their whole line available in "custom fit" that is utterly useless to me.

Ended up just getting some jeans and a couple of fitted button ups.

"vintage fit" = will not fit me, ever. If a tee shirt has that on a label, its automatically tossed back on the rack.

I kinda dig some of the Americana movement, simply because much of it fits my mostly tee shirt and jeans style. I dig what Levi's is trying to do with their traveling, even if I don't really wear 501s. I respect the lost art of people making things and spending time on something. Redwing shoes, Nokona baseball mitts, Wigwam socks, etc.

Agreed. I'll gladly pay more for quality. Probably why I haven't bought anything from Old Navy in years.

That's really the essence of the whole Americana movement. Getting back to a time when things were made, and made well to last. Not saying I go all John Ratzenberger all the time, but I definitely concur, Derris, that if its between one of two options, I'm going with a domestically made option.

I'll be the first to point out that the centerpiece outfit in that Billy Reid feature is basically a "Darkwashed Jay Leno."

We have a Billy Reid store in Nashville and I've yet to go in because I somehow knew the clothes would "run small" aka not for a big man.

Going along with the "Americana"? theme, we have a now world-famous custom, raw denim jean maker based a little over a mile from my place called Imogene + Willie. HERE is an article about the company.

Billy Reid is worth going into because they just might offer you some bourbon if you look semi-serious about buying (even if you aren't). The store in Charlotte also had these awesome jelly-bean type things sitting out in bowls throughout the store.

It's a helluva typo to go from Actually to Sexually.
