Thought I'd announce it to my fellow Obnerds first.

I'm starting a label, JUKBOXR. Limited edition 12"s, hand numbered, colored vinyl, full color inserts, posters, digital releases via iTunes, Spotify, eMusic, Amazon, etc.

I'm fucking beyond excited. I should have done this a long, long time ago.

The first 2 releases will be by two artists that I think have produced some of the best material so far this year, Glass Vaults and Bon Accord. New material will be recorded for these releases. You can download their previous releases at the links below.

The JUKBOXR web shop will be up within the next few weeks, and you'll be able to pre-order the releases and receive a download code for each release.

I should mention that this label has no restrictions. I'll be signing artists that I love, no matter what genre they fall under.

I feel like a few years ago this would've been too expensive to really pull off. Thanks to the resurgence in vinyl, it seems now more viable. Without me prying too much, did you have to order a minimum number of pieces, etc? I guess TwilightKid has put out some vinyl pieces in the past (if I remember correctly), are you finding its easier now, as opposed to a few years ago to afford vinyl?

how are you handling the download code stuff?

Like anything, the bigger quanity you buy, the cheaper it costs per unit...Of the few places I solicited quotes from, 250 seems to be the minimum quanity, most places want to do....most will do a shorter run of 100 or so, but they really jack up the per unit costs, making it almost impossible to break even let alone profit from...

very basic. it will have a specific link back to the web shop. we're not too worried at this point about people sharing that link. when we grow, we'll probably have to set it up differently.
