The first time DirectTV was supposed to install my dish they said they'd be there between 7 AM and noon. It happened to be my first full day in my new (at the time) apartment AND the day after Halloween, so in celebration of the holiday and my new digs, my friend and I went out the night before and basically drank the bar out of vodka (one of the only memories of the night I have is getting back to the apartment and changing in the living room while saying "I don't care if you see my breasts" to her), because I never expected DirectTV to be on time.

Sure enough, the guys were early. I was awakened by a phone call at 6.45 AM asking directions and they arrived to find me in my pajamas (barely), clothes strewn all over the floor and my friend sleeping pantless on the couch. I'm sure they thought we had had a pretty great night.

The next two times they had to come they were on time and worked damn efficiently, but I'm pretty sure I'm an exception in these sorts of stories.

I really do love your stories, especially when they involve nakedness, but yeah, you really should just go to hell.

that's gonna be some pretty great hell

We'd get television on time, but every channel would only air shows starring Nancy Grace.

no shit - his life was a series of unfortunate occurrences and bad fucking luck. It's amazing he could make humor from so many horrible experiences.

LONDON — A giant bale of hay has killed a founding member of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) after it tumbled down a hill and crashed into his van.
Cellist Mike Edwards, 62, died after the 1,323 lb bale rolled down a steep field in Devon, southern England, smashed through a hedge and careered on to the road.
He died instantly in the freak accident on Friday afternoon. Sgt. Steve Walker, of Devon and Cornwall police, described the crash as "a tragic accident," the BBC reported. Police said they used photographs and YouTube footage to identify Edwards and are investigating whether the bale may have fallen from a tractor working on farmland near the road. Edwards, who played with the band between 1972 and 1975, is believed to have swerved into another vehicle as the bale crushed his vehicle.
ELO eventually sold more than 50 million records worldwide. Britain's Mirror newspaper reported that Edwards quit the band at the height of its fame to become a Buddhist.

I know I've beat this drum before but I blame that Congress for ruining Jimmy Carter, enabling Ronnie Raygun and just generally being a deceitful bunch of dog fuckers. That they pulled off Watergate is more amazing than the moon landing.
