Looking at the Democratic majority in 1994 is like looking at the old Politburo from the Brezhnev era: It's a tableau of gray, glassy-eyed men with liver spots. In 1994, Neal Smith, at 74 a relatively young representative from Iowa, was defeated by Republican Greg Ganske, who rode around in a 1958 DeSoto to highlight the year Smith was first elected. Ousted Texan Jack Brooks had joined the House a year before Bill Haley and the Comets recorded "Rock Around the Clock."

I know I've beat this drum before but I blame that Congress for ruining Jimmy Carter, enabling Ronnie Raygun and just generally being a deceitful bunch of dog fuckers. That they pulled off Watergate is more amazing than the moon landing.

Yeah, I really only posted this in lieu of emailing you directly, because we had just had such a similar conversation.

Just found out that I'm gonna have to choose between Sonic Youth/Pavement/No Age at the Hollywood Bowl and the LA County Demolition Derby. It was not a hard decision.

Psilocybin helps near-death cancer patients in dealing with anxiety surrounding impending death

Quote:
Notably, the psilocybin did not aggravate the patients' anxiety or provoke any other unwanted effects besides a slight increase in blood pressure and heart rate.

Grob's findings are "important because he's showing that you can administer these compounds safely to cancer patients with anxiety," says Roland Griffiths, Ph.D., a professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, in Baltimore.

"[Blah blah yadda yadda], but nonetheless it appears that we can conduct research with these compounds safely," adds Griffiths, who was not involved in the study but has researched the therapeutic effects of psilocybin. (He and his colleagues are currently enrolling patients in a similar study that will use larger doses of the drug.)

You might try approaching her as a human instead of the constant creepy flirtation on a message board. Although there's probably benefits to either tactic.

is anyone watching "rubicon"? it started out brutally slow, but the last few episodes have picked up the pace quite well.

Yeah, I know you're the perfect person to take advice from in this area, so I'll get right on it. Thanks.

Rads is one of the last people I'm going to pay attention to. Sorry, I just don't need his low-self-esteem hatefulness.

Richard-FUCKING-Daley is retiring/not seeking re-election. Wow...

On Dec. 26, he will become Chicago’s longest serving mayor, eclipsing the 21-year, eight-month tenure of his father, Richard J. Daley.

Will Rahm Emanuel run for mayor?
