Totally. As a season ticket holder for Georgia games, it's bullshit that I have to pay for Idaho St and Louisiana-Lafayette in order to get the bigger games.

That said, I'll gladly do it if it allows me to get to go to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl every now and then.

My personal rationalization.

So fiscal responsibility is paying Idaho $800,000?

It normally wouldn't be and that is why there is an article in the Omaha paper today about not paying out those kind of fees and choosing to play FCS teams half that amount in the near future.
As for this season, the $800,000 will be well worth it if Nebraska can win the Big 12 conference and make a BCS bowl game due to what looks to be a surprisingly weak conference schedule.

Well, at least the ACC waited until the second weekend of the season to completely embarrass its reputation this year

And Boise State's chances for a BCS title game took a big hit with that Va Tech loss too. So much for their "marquee" win.

My alma mater the South Dakota Coyotes upset Minnesota today, so that is pretty cool.
The Husker Defense had five interceptions and returned two for touchdowns, but the offense fumbled the ball six times and lost it three, so I wasn't too impressed by the win. I was hoping that they'd score at least fifty after taking a 31-0 lead in the first half.
I guess I shouldn't complain, the Huskers won and didn't go out like punk bitches to FCS schools this weekend.

Also Congrats to Turner Gill and Kansas on the upset of #15 Georgia Tech, I don't think the Fat Bastard ever pulled off that kind of victory in his first season.

Wow, I look bad, and I can't even blame the booze on that one.
I'll change it up, even if I got called out for it.

Seriously, give Denard Robinson the Heisman immediately. Do not pass GO; do not collect $200. I would go so far as to say that was the second-greatest single-game one-man performance in college football history behind Vince Young's Rose Bowl.

As for Joe Montana's kid, it looks like he suffers from the same malady as Michael Jordan's sons: LEGACY FAIL

From what I've seen of Washington this season, your boys have a cake walk waiting for them next week in Seattle. Enjoy.

Yeah, a big "hit" in the mafia sense of the word, because those chances are deader than a doornail, thanks to James Madison.

For my sanity, I hope you are correct, but I will still worry about the offensive production of Nebraska on the road and believe that Jake Locker will find a way to throw a few touchdown passes at home next week.
I still expect the Huskers to win, but I'm not sure they'll spank another Pac-10 foe like they did Arizona in the Bowl game.

If you think that today's Virginia Tech result had any meaningful impact on Boise State's chances at making the championship game, then I have a Waterford crystal football with a Dr. Pepper logo on it to sell you.

I could rip a chicken's head off and wipe up the blood with a visor.

I know it's sour grapes, but aside from shitty arm tackling on Lattimore, we're not the worse team. AJ Green plays I gotta think we get in the endzone.

Also - Mike Bobo must die.

A bit vague here.

Are you implying the still can or implying they never had a chance to begin with?

I think you could argue both ways, but I think Fu is of the opinion that they never had a chance because of the BCS system.
An 0-1 Oregon State conveniently showed up in one of the polls this week, and will most likely win against Louisville on Saturday causing them to move up a bit further before their game with the Broncos. With Boise State not losing any positions in the polls and sitting at #3, they just have to win according to a few BCS experts that say only a one loss SEC could possibly jump over them at the end of the year due a gawdy SOS. The Big 12, Big Ten, etc are still viewed to be as too weak to justify that sort of jump in the computer polls.

No chance. Boise is a nice wedge for sports journos to use against the BCS system, or write up a Cinderella, or meaninglessly ponder all sorts of "what-if" scenarios. Aside from those in Idaho, there aren't any writers nor coaches that want to see Boise in that game. It's easy to paint that picture now, in the issue of "fairness", but come November/December, Boise will get their pat on the head and consolation prize. Assuming they go undefeated, which is still a pretty nifty feat in a crappy conference.

I really hope Oregon State can do us all a favor, because Boise State just isn't that good. Virginia Tech pretty much handed that game to them in week one, and we've all seen now that Virginia Tech probably isn't that good anyway. If they run the table now, they most likely will have beaten no ranked teams at the end of the season.

As a former Arkansan, I am actually rooting for Georgia. I'm sick of hearing how great Ryan Mallet is... please put them in their place, Dogs!!!

And, as sloppy as Nebraska looked this weekend, I actually feel pretty good about this upcoming matchup with Washington. We just need to show up for all four quarters and cut back on the dropsies.

Oh, and I know this is the college football thread, but the Detroit Lions got screwed!!!!!!!!

Ryan Mallet is Dan Marino against Central Michigans, and Dan McGwire against even half-assed competition.

NC State is 2-0 for the first time since 2002 (when Philip Rivers was still around). Next game is a short-turnaround Thursday night game in Raleigh on ESPN. Central Florida is no pushover (8-5 last year, favorites to win C-USA) and it was a solid win against them last week, but this will be a big test for the team. We appear to have a not-awful D this year, so we will see.
