the kind that people constantly ask you about when being introduced to them. It pisses me off because of all things on this green earth, I do not need to be associated with "Cotton-Eyed Joe", which is invariably what people say upon learning my name (other than the usual wool/polyester/pickin'/Mather references, of course). I was just thinking if y'all have similar issues with crap like this.

Edit: As soon as I typed this I realized that Dolly and Audrey probably have it so much worse than I due to the showtunes featuring their names. Sorry, gals.

Jeez, I'd hate to be named Joe. I mean, having the same name as a motorcycle is so much better.

Dude, try having this one- "867-5309 (jenny I got your number)"

That came out when I was 12. The boys were jerks to me about it. They used to tease me if the song was about me and what was I doing in a bar.

good lord.

Though I do like The Killers song "jenny was a friend of mine".

I find it amazing that ANYONE hearing your name associates it with that song. That would be more weird than irritating.

88 Lines About 44 Women -- Turkish Tania liked to fuck while wearing leather biker boots.

The only song I know that has my name in it.

I only have one song I know of, and though it's about a woman, it ain't bad at all. I used to listen to the Doc Watson version when I was a young'un.

Wake up, wake up, Darling Cory, What makes you sleep so sound?
The revenuers are a-coming, For to tear your still house down.

Dig a hole, Dig a hole in the meadow, Dig a hole in the cold cold ground;
Dig a hole, Dig a hole in the meadow, We're gonna lay Darling Cory down.

The first time I seen Darling Cory, She's lookin' out on the sea,
With her pistols a-hangin' 'round her middle, And a banjo hangin' round her knee.

The next time I seen Darling Cory, She had a wine glass in her hand;
She was drinkin' down that cold poison liquor, With a low-down gamblin' man.

Go 'way, go 'way, Darling Cory, I'll do the best I can.
I'll get me a no drinkin' woman, And you get you another lovin' man.

The last time I seen Darling Cory, Her pistol was in her hand;
She done kilt that revenue officer, What took away her corn liquor man.

Don't you hear them bluebirds singin', Don't you hear that mournful sound,
They're preachin' Cory's funeral, In the lonesome graveyard ground.

Well, if we're just naming songs with our names in them the first one that comes to mind is Queen's Another One Bites The Dust.

I wish my name were Tony.

"This is a song about a superhero named Tony. It's called Toy's theme."

I don't know of any for Todd.
But my wife is Sharon, and she's heard "My Sharona" since high school... constantly.

This topic makes me think of that girl who rode my bus in 8th grade, Janeane, and AMG...that is all.

Dolly Parton had a song about a rugged yet still tender-hearted mountain man named Joshua.....

hence the name of the song being "Joshua"

"Chris Krauth'll make you Jump, Jump"

"Warm it up Chris" and then I'm supposed to say, "I'm about to"
