Excited for it. My kids love Let's Go Surfing and Swim, so I'll have to phone video bit parts for them. I've never been to this new venue. Its also touted as an early showing 7-11pm.

This show was great. I didn't realize the Drums were the headliners until I got there. Lots of energy, good venue, all types of crowd. The Drums brought on the campy vibe. Surfer Blood brought the rock. One of the better shows I have seen in the last couple of years. On at 7 done at 11.

yeah man, this was a great tour billing. caught them in Orlando on Friday. Surfer Blood have improved greatly from all the touring. incredibly tight, and the new songs are sounding great. The Drums were very entertaining and fun.

Surfer Blood will be doing a 7" series for Kanine before leaving and working on their next album for Warner Brothers.

This is why Pitchfork is perplexing (among a lot of reasons), they gave Surfer Blood a "Best New Music" tag and gave it an 82 on their review this year. Today, their honorable mentions were posted, and Surfer Blood was on it. Why deem it a "best" release and then just stick it in a category usually reserved for albums that were so-so? Odd. At least to me.

because of the volume of releases i'm guessing. they can't put everything in their top lists.

Noted, but I guess what is weird is the "Best New Music" tag. Granted, I raved about certain albums upon their release that waned over time (see: Lissie), so I guess its explainable on that level.

yeah, i've always thought that tag was a bit weird, but it's their way of pointing out their 'special' albums at the time, i guess.

i think a number of those honorable mentions garnered the BNM tag. didn't both grinderman & glasser feel the love? plus, they probably had to make room for spots 1-10 for that overrated kanye piece.

i'm wondering if they'll actually pick Kanye for their #1 of 2010. did any other release get a 10.0 aside from reissues?

I'm always semi-disappointed when I listen to this album just because I really like the opening track enough that it makes the rest of the album feel like a step down. That album opening guitar riff is basically as good as it gets for this thing.

owen pallett's heartland got an 8.6/best new music and it's not in the honorable mentions or the top 50.
