I have seen this mentioned lately (specifically in El Guapo's NP posts) and Tads included one song on his slowcore monger mix that is jam up.

Reccomended further listening?

Haq hit me up with their Ohio album, which is pretty awesome. They're a christer band, which'd usually ruin it for me, but the chick tends to mumble her lyrics so the message never gets overbearing. And her voice is gorgeous, innit?

Films For Radio is also excellent. I think I like it even better than Ohio- there's a couple of songs on Ohio that she beats a particular line to death by endless repetition. Drives me nuts. But mostly, I really like Ohio too.

My sister lives there.

I didn't know they were a Christian band. I worked with one of the backup singers for awhile.

I think they're Christians but you wouldn't know it from the lyrics. I don't have Songs for the Radio or Ohio but I have Good Dog, Bad Dog which has some of my favorite songs ever on it. The singer has an amazing voice, probably my favorite female vocalist. I highly recommend them.

I think Good Dog Bad Dog is the best CD to start with if you are going to try and get into them.

They did just put out a new CD on Tues called Drunkard's Prayer. I went to Soundwaves in Houston and they had it under the "artist name," Drunkard's Prayer.

Yes, they are Christians but they aren't an evangelical band. And they have never had a single disc marketed to a Christian bookstore, as opposed to say - Pedro the Lion and Viva Voce.

Check out their website(sorry, too lazy to post a link) because the dude, who is the "singer's" husband, writes some really good poetry. I don't even understand poetry all that much but boy I like his. They used to have links to some of it. I don't know if they do anymore.

Once they played at my school. One of my friends yelled at the Q&A time, "will you come to Taco Bell with us after the show"? I believe the response from dude was, "eewww. No!"

I laughed.
