Gmail docs is pretty awesome. I'll never buy a Word suite again.

I guess it's good they have the option but why do people want conversations unthreaded in gmail?

on a similar note, does anybody use any cloud-based hosting for personal or small business applications?

i'd love to be able to download a WIP photoshop project, doodle around on it, save it, and then re-up it and possibly work on it again later at another location, all sans external HD.

jungledisk is one...which ones are the best?

For that, I would probably use Dropbox. Hit this referral link, and we both get some free space (I'm pretty sure): http://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTIzNDE1MDc5

Jungledisk is my choice for backing shit up. So far it works and is <$5/mo. for what I'm hosting.

Others: I looked at Mozy & Carbonite, but I read lots of horror stories about actually retrieving data after a hard drive catastrophe. I'm also using e-disk to back up some music, since I tend to fry externals. Box.net is my old standby, and I've used it for years. Also, you can now upload any file type to Google docs (or at least I think you can).

I have people who work on some of my projects that are too TEH DUMBG to use Google Docs.

i've used a shit ton of them, and Rackspace Cloud is BY FAR the best. The speeds are ridiculous, and you pay for what u you use. No monthly fee.

My JungleDisk is run through Rackspace rather than Amazon S3.

Dropbox is amazing. It'll sync files across your computers automatically. You can get 2GB free or pay for more storage if you need it.

Another vote for Dropbox. It is indeed awesome and free for up to two gigs.
