Max Tundra = basically what Aphex Twin would have morphed into if Richard James kept advancing creatively instead of just remixing himself since 1998.

Also, I've only gotten one listen in so far, but the new Women seems pretty damn great. Original? Yeah, I think so. Definitely different.

Edit: Man, that "Stillness Is the Move" video is pretty bad. This is the first time I've actually watched it. Great song, though.

I hear Archers of Loaf and some Polvo in that, but it's still a bit different from them.

i wouldn't say they're totally original though. if i were choosing rappers, i'd go with someone like mf doom, saafir, edan or subtitle.

Maybe Damon Albarn, the Gorillaz is pretty original in that it is a cartoon band. I guess the Archies came first, but I doubt that counts. The sound of the first one with the pop and rap together was pretty unique too.

They both started out fairly typical of their crew and got progressively weirder as they got older, creating a whole style and world that was totally their own. I've never heard more than a song or two of the folks you mentioned, so I can't respond to them.
