Okay, gang. I'm looking for an easy way to share video, through an email. I'm going to assume that this is going to end up being a link to a video, since sending a large file will cause all sorts of headaches on the receiver's end. It's not going to be long, maybe 60 seconds, probably more like 30. It's just a greeting/initial business contact type thing. Any parents out there share video with the grandparents?

I just started looking around, but I'm open to all experiences. I'm not anti-YouTube or Vimeo, but I'm not sure if that's the route I want to take. My initial thought is to email a preview image with a link to the video, so that it's not a blind link (people are lazy), but less likely to get blocked or not work in email clients.

I came across Eyejot, which allows you to send a link the person can view with no login. I'm still picking around their site though.

Anyone tried Box.net or Dropbox or similar cloud sharing sites? I like the idea of sending someone a direct link to the video that they can play right in the browser without jumping through hoops.

Yeah, since it's a business thing, I'd say just use Vimeo.

It's a lot cleaner and more professional-looking than Youtube, and it's a pretty safe bet that everyone will be able to see the video if it's posted there. With any other option that I know of, I think you might be running the risk that somebody out there won't be able to view it.

You should be able to set the viewership to private on both of those sites as well.

Gracias. The Broad suggested Vimeo as well, so I'm probably going to lean that direction. It handles my needs now, and it will also work with what's coming down the road.

Well hell. Turns out Vimeo is for non-commercial use only.

That's weird because I could swear I'd seen various studios upload their work there. Maybe that's a recent change.

I think it's more "non-commercial". I stumbled across a thread of people getting their accounts shut down, so I'll just save myself the headache and go somewheres else.

If you follow Vimeo's uploading guidelines, you'll probably get the cleanest, and best upload. I've used it numerous times to great effect. I think their HD is the best as well, if that suits yr video.
