when asked i had any musical obsessions, i answered "i don't really have one now". then soon after came "picaresque".

i've listened to that album three times since seeing 'em live on tuesday and i'm anxious to hear it again. might be a challenger for my current 2005 #1, "i'm wide awake it's morning" by obnerst.

I was dissappointed by their last album so I haven't gotten this one yet but tomorrow is pay day so I'll probably get it.

The first two songs are bunk, but the rest is fantastic. Overall a 4

Okay, I'm gonna listen to this again tonight, maybe twice.

The first listen was irritatingly unremarkable, one song near the end was the only one that even scratched at my attention. Maybe I was just busy.

I don't want to give away too many of my feelings on this until I review it on Hip Displeasure, but while I enjoy such songs as "Sixteen Military Wives," there's just too much of the same-ol' same-'ol sea shanty stuff on here for this to really rise above the favorable side of meh for me. I voted "3."
