For those that have attended, is it worth getting a badge? Any real benefit aside attending the conferences?

Fill me in bros.

i mean i suppose there will be enough parties with bands playing that you could get your music fill without an official badge

i went twice with a badge and i think i only used it a few times

nah...no badge necessary anymore...buy tickets to the showcases you wanna see, go to free day parties, RSVP when you can take disco naps, don't do coke.

right on. can you just purchase the tix for each showcase from the venue, or online?

there are always a few really cool panels, but i agree with everyone else that it's easier and cheaper to just buy tickets to what you want to see. i suppose there are badge-only shows, however i don't think they justify the cost of a badge.

What everyone else has said. As for surviving and seeing a lot of stuff, Whiney's regimen is pretty spot on; big coffee every morning, no booze. But he was working. If you just wanna have fun, get in touch with Tania. That woman's a machine at SXSW.

Dale - get one of your boys in a band to get you an extra wristand. My bro gave me his when he left (band played first night, next show elsewhere) shit was free, and awesome. And I'll be damn if I want to sit through a panel.

And fudave - just bumps, no all night mirror sesh.

I had so many opportunities to pull the trigger on SXSW, but unless I land some sort of gig in the music biz again, I'll live it through blog postings.....sigh.
