One of my parents' best friends is Steve Goodman's first cousin. I never met Goodman, myself, but whenever I see a picture of him, it's fucking eerie how much alike they look.

Today's NP:

Norman Blake - Whiskey Before Breakfast

What a great album this is. And on old Flying Fish vinyl, the sound quality is superb.

Iggy Pop & James Williamson: Kill City (REMIXED)

If you're familiar with this album you probably know this was the post Stooges pre-Iggy-solo recording done with another Stooge they shopped around and found no takers for until after Iggy sold some records again. I used to have on old cassette of it long ago but never really warmed to it either musically or because of some really murky sound where you really couldn't tell what was going on for half of it anyway. Anyway, guess they found the tapes and got to remixing and remastering so I thought I'd give it another try. better sound brings out some of the guitar parts and it's not a bad album. It's just not really anything that blows me away and when you either compare it to the Stooges releases that came before of the first couple Iggy solo albums, I think it kinda pales. Some hard slashing guitars but a lot more meandering stuff, ballads, heartfelt desperation, soaring guitar parts and that sort of thing.
