File under "The End Is Surely Nigh"- I just saw a Subaru commercial that was using "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" as background music. Shane, Shane, Shane: Wha' ha'e ye done?

Nothing like this will surprise me after hearing "New Kind of Kick" in a beer commercial 7 or 8 years ago.

Shane is still paying off those new teeth. Cut him some slack.

Do they even make money off this, or is it a label thing?

Long answer: depends on who owns the publishing rights, but since the song has been recorded, the ad company had to get a synch (from songwriter) and mechanical (label) license.

Short answer: Shane probably got paid unless in the past he sold the copyright to help pay for his teeth or whiskey.
