This means nothing at this point as New Orleans is unbeaten as well.

He's playing really well and putting up great numbers, but I still don't see it. He's not even the most valuable player on his team.

I'm not saying Bynum is a lousy center, just that every single year people act like he's gona show up and crack the league wide open, and I just don't see that happening. He's a great starting center, but Laker fans need to stop touting him as the future of the Laker dynasty. He's a good puzzle piece, but he has never demonstrated anything resembling the linchpin to build a new team around. 15 and 8 is nothing to scoff at, but it's not like these are

Yao Ming's selection as an all-star his sweet FA to do with his talent (although I'd venture that he earned a selection or two) but more to do with the billions of Chinese people that vote for him (and T-Mac) every year. I don't think anyone would take what's left of Yao over Bynum right now, but there are plenty of true centers that I'd dump him for.

I guess it looked like I was putting him down when I was really saying I see more potential in Oden at the moment. He could bounce back and be incredible, but it seems to me that he's got ways to go.
well your Oden line is crazy because he's never going to walk again, but everything else, I agree with. Bynum is great to have in a playoff series against a true center, but there's really only one or two of those that they could legitimately face. Other than against Orlando, Boston...ok really just those two teams, they're far better going "small" and not having Bynum in Pau's way around the basket.

If you factor in durability and take out potential, there's probably ten true centers and probably twice that of "forward-centers" I'd rather have on my team than Bynum.

Why don't you also ignore his height and age and career to date while you're at it. It's completely reasonable to factor in durability but why would you take out potential when you're talking about a 22 year old center? Also, I don't think I could name ten true centers in the NBA, let alone ten true centers I'd take over Bynum. Granted, its not as important anymore to have a true center given the lack of teams that have one that requires defending against but that was Chase's point not yours.

I agree with some of what Cotton said. I think the odds are against him becoming the star on a good laker team and a good puzzle piece is a good description of what he is today. Still, he's only 22, never played any college ball, and has improved every year. Given the lack of true centers in the league, it's a little dismissive to think he'll never be more than simply a good puzzle piece. Would it surprise people to know that Bynum is only 3 months older than Oden? I don't see how anyone could rationalize preferring Oden to Bynum.

Hawks held the Magic to 43% shooting and the Magic's sharp shooters couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from 3 (4 for 22 from 3).

Result: 11 straight loss to the Magic

It's laughable at this point.

Hawks only hope of getting past the 2nd round is if the Magic get upset. Period.

Please. PLEASE tell me you saw what my Jazz just did to the Heat. Sweet Jeebus that was an incredible game. Also, a hearty "suck it" to those in my fantasy league who laughed at me for drafting Millsap so early.

Jesus. Gotta feel bad for Blazers fans too.

Would've been nice to see how he developed. As it is, welcome to the Sam Bowie club Greg.

It's amazing, he was such a dominant player in college too. I follow Big Ten ball pretty closely and, I must have watched him play 7 or 8 times and I can remember thinking this guy will be a star in the NBA.

Yeah, the Blazers are still a good ball club, but if they had a healthy Oden to block shots and get 10 and 10 every night, they'd be that much better.

This sucks for sure, but maybe this makes the decision on what to do with him now a little easier as his rookie contract is up after this year. The bigger problem is that Brandon Roy describes his left knee as bone on bone and is talking about learning how to play below the rim and is asking for his minutes to be cut. Maybe now I understand why Paul Allen was pissed off with Kevin Pritchard...drafting guys with talent but with major physical problems.

Granted it's only about a quarter of the way into the season, but...

Miami Heat 10-8
New York Knicks 9-9

This helps me sleep at night.....
