A new set of executives have recently taken over at work (within the last two weeks) and things have taken a 180 degree turn and gone from good to bad. It has become pretty obvious that, in their effort to try and change anything, have developed a considerable disdain for me. The signs have been clear that they wish they could fire me, except that they have no justification for such actions. I've been the most productive employee for the past year plus now and continue to bring in the most results. Their problem with me is that I'm bucking many of their suggestions and continuing to do things the way that has always worked. So they've started to strip away my responsibilities one at a time in an effort to either neutralize all of my power or cause me to quit. In most situations I'd just say fuck it and find another job except that I really enjoy what I do. So I don't know what to do. Two weeks ago everything was fine, now while the actual job is still enjoyable, I feel totally alienated by many of the people there. Not even my family can figure out what the hell I should do. Dammit

You still on decent terms with any of the people who have your old responsibilities? Would it be appropriate to asking them if they need help or advice?

Also, have you clearly stated to the execs why you think their suggestions won't improve things? If not, you may just be coming off as resistant to change.

If you enjoy what you do why leave? I doubt very much that they would fire you if you really are that good because at the end of the day to execs employees are just productivity figures rather than actual people. Besides it's fun to have a nemesis in the workplace.

On the other hand I don't have any time for scaredy-cats that cling on to a job they hate through fear of unemployment. There's a whole world outside the office and a million other things to do.

But since you seem to like it, why be forced out? Stay and get it right up the fuckers. Suits are usually completely retarded so they shouldn't be to hard to outwit.

Sketch and Konstantin have provided sage advice.

I'll add that I've usually been involved in processes that involve change and have always found the following adage to be true -- people are resistant to change. Everyone is used to a certain way of doing things so when something new is introduced, we instantly cringe at the idea and barely give it a chance. I don't know what sort of changes these new execs have introduced, but you might want to try their new methods (it's possible they've worked very well elsewhere) or, if you have a better idea which will improve things, suggest it.

That's one way to quickly move yourself up the corporate ladder. Eliminate the competition.
