To resuscitate the theme of earlier in the week, gimme some banjo--thouth no necessarily bluegrass-centric, though. Like this:

Neil Young :: "For The Turnstiles"
Warren Zevon :: "Frank And Jesse James"

GO!

For the record, I am a hack banjo player, myself. Had one in college and I love the sound of the damn thing.

As to songs:
Whatever that last song is on R.E.M.'s Fables.... (Is it "Wendell Gee"?)

i love banjo.

iron & wine and sufjan stevens should be added here too, but i can't remember song titles right now. (edit: sorry chuck d...i should read all the way down before responding....)

"for the widows in paradise, for the fatherless in ypsilanti" by sufjan is probably one of my top 5 favorite songs ever.

Bela Fleck & the Flecktones - well, pretty much anything in their catalog, and Fleck is pretty much the best banjo player the world has ever seen. Fear not, they really aren't so bluegrassy as you might imagine, mixing jazz and a little of everything else. Probably not for everybody, but if you enjoy hearing the best of the best in terms of musicians, this band is for you - Victor Wooten ranks among the very best bassists, but his style may be too busy for some. I'd suggest starting at the Live Art set, as it's a good mix of songs and will probably satisfy any banjo cravings for a long time.

Uh oh, did I just make a boo-boo and admit to liking something like the Flecktones?!
