Pretty important part of their sound (garden).

Man, I loved Ultramega OK and Louder than Love. Badmotorfinger was pretty good too, but I always preferred the Yamamoto era to the Shepard era.

I think Black Hole Sun was simply overplayed...you couldn't escape that song if you listened to rock radio...still can't, hear it every time someone has it on.

Black Hole Sun is only truly offensive if you were in love with a dirtier, earlier, grittier version of the band, and thus BHS becomes some kind of unforgiveable sparkling pop concession. Othewise it's perfectly normal pop rock radio fare, and kinda catchy/interesting at that.

The latest rumor-mill on the PJ boards is that there would be a joint Pearl Jam/Soundgarden tour, with Matt Cameron drumming for both. Soundgarden does essentially an opening slot of PJ. I dunno how this works but it makes sense, until the band gets its chops back. Also, it doesn't kill the PJ tour that was planned in 2010. Encore with Temple of the Dog?

Still, the consensus is that this won't happen (PJ/SG team-up) and that PJ will go on hiatus for awhile until Cornell runs this into the ground.

i watched the conan thing on the web. i thought they sounded terrible. weak vocals, wimpy guitars, terrible stage presence. not the soundgarden i adored in junior high. totally embarrassing.
