i liked this episode more than the previous week's. it provided some key character development and progress toward potential conflicts among survivors.

i'm still trying to figure out a timeline here. how long was rick in the coma? i have no idea how long a coma patient could survive off an IV drip, but that would still only backdate to when the hospital was abandoned.

I think you kind of just have to let go of questions like that. It really won't matter after a while. I can't remember if the book ever answered that question or not, but the fact that I can't remember should tell you something.

Looking forward to watching this tonight, but the last episode definitely lowered my expectations. Are there really only three more episodes after this one?

Let's question the reality of the main character's hospital stay, because that could never happen like that.

Zombies.

thinking about this last night, in the Zombie apocalypse pretty much all of us would be dead, but rednecks with crossbows and militia weirdos would be having the time of their lives.

I think that's true of pretty much any apocalypse scenario.

I do kinda wonder how all the army dudes in the tanks managed to get overwhelmed, though. Like I try not to ever get too caught up on the details in these sorts of things, but how does the guy in the tank manage to get himself bitten by a zombie while an old guy who owns an RV is one of a handful of survivors?

i took that to be that the guy in the tank died in the tank; trapped the same way rick would've been had glenn not contacted him.

You mean the zombie that Rick shot in the head inside the tank?

I'm with Drinky in not really getting some of that.

I'm trying to figure out what happened to Merle. He clearly didn't go back down the stairwell, so did he jump off the roof? He he gonna pop up in the opening scene of next episode?

I'm kinda surprised that Michonne will be introduced in the first season, since I feel like she came along a lot later in the book.

I thought shiv said she'd be introduced early in the second season?

I don't suppose it matters too much if they bring her in early.

You have to stay with it. It's a slow burn, and a lot of the characters are real people, which I enjoy.

I'd watch Boardwalk Empire just for the costume and set design, though.

I actually like BE now more than I did at the beginning. I still feel like my interest is precarious, but for the most part I dig it.

You guys are honestly lukewarm on a show with a FACELESS ASSASSIN!!???

Agreed. Also, given the competition currently at that time slot, it's a no brainer. Plus, like Gar alluded to, I love this era of US History. Last time I was in DC I went to the Spy Museum and the Newseum and loved all that prohibition/FBI/gangster stuff. I feel like it's an era that is widely misunderstood as well in that the 20's weren't "roaring" because of the booze.

I actually find the self flagellating, puritanical FBI character WAY more sinister than any of the scumfuck politicos, business men, or gangster characters.

Back to Walking Dead, I watched the third episode last night.

I agree that it was better than the previous one. I like that I'm now able to identify a lot more characters from the book, and that gets me a little more excited about watching it. I feel like the woman who they got to play Carol is a little on the old side (and so is Andrea for that matter), but I like how they're portraying the characters otherwise. (Did I miss it, or is there no Allen & Donna?)

It was kind of another set-up episode, and I guess I can see why people might be getting a little weary of it. If they do what I think they're doing and basically just cover the first volume of the graphic novel, only one big conflict is going to get resolved this season. There won't be anything approaching an explanation or resolution or anything like that. I wonder how many seasons they're planning to get with this thing?

Without any knowledge of the source material, I am digging the show - I actually didn't mind second episode as much as some. The third one returned to a slower pacing, as opposed to the the faster, action-horror pacing of the second. I do hope they are able to eventually find a more consistent pace to the show, though.

Oddly enough, this is one of like 4 shows that She Guns Holla wants to watch with me, so its got that going for it.

Yeah, same here. Somehow I can't get my wife interested in watching Season 2 of The Wire, but she's really into this.

The only episode I've enjoyed was the second episode. I find it hard to watch a show about relationships in the context of Zombies. The only thing that makes Zombies entertaining is the cheap thrills of "is character x going to become a zombie?" The whole "i thought you were dead so I fucked your best friend" has been done and isn't terribly interesting to me.

I'll keep watching but I'll probably just fwd through the non-action parts.

I recorded the first episode yesterday from on demand and watched it last night after getting a little curious after skimming this thread. It seems pretty well done but still I couldn't help but notice that it's about Zombies. I kinda doubt I'll end up sticking with it but I'll probably give it another episode or two before making a decision.
