Taking my 9-year-old to the CSO on Thursday night.
Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4
http://cso.org/TicketsAndEvents/EventDe ... x?eid=3441
He's a big Beethoven fan, so it will be interesting to see how he likes the pomp and formality of a performance at Symphony Center.

Graphic of how much and what you eat each year

At least, "On Average"

I am certainly below average on dairy based beverages, artificial sweetener, soda and french fries.

And this year, on Red Meat - of which I've probably eaten less than 5lbs in the last 8 months.

I'm confused by the dairy category. It's non-cheese dairy but 2/3 of the the consumption is something other than milk. What the hell is all the non-milk, non-cheese dairy?

I had my first steak since early August on Friday night. It tasted really good.

I'm probably much higher than the average American in artificial sweetners and much lower in vegetables but otherwise across the board my eating habits appear to be better.

I probably drink 20 - 30 gallons of beer per year.

I'm guessing it's all the random things that have dairy in them, or stuff like cream cheese, yogurt, etc. Plus stuff you get in pastries or biscuits?

Same thing with the sweeteners. I think a lot of things have artificial sweetening agents, but you wouldn't usually think of them as sweet.

Plus, if anyone is a diet soda addict, they're getting dinged on two categories.

I have come to realize that the only way I am maintaining anything resembling a regular and healthy weight has A LOT to do with the fact that I no longer really drink soda at all - I might kill a large Coke or Dr. Pepper from McD's or somewhere whence hungover, but that MIGHT be once a month.

I bet I'd be 10lbs lighter without this awesome pizza joint 1/2 mi from my house that serves the best antipasta in the state, plus good pie/breadsticks. I've eaten more pizza and cheese this year than in the last 2 combined.

It whey and milk fat. Its in everything. When I was a vegan it was the bane of my existence.

Also, pork is under "red meat", so they've been lying to us about it being the "other white meat" all these years?

Oh, ok...I figured something like that. I'm also realizing I probably eat more fruit in 2 months than most people eat in a year.

I've been out of bed maybe 7 1/2 hours and already today:

4 oranges
6 or so strawberries
1/2 carton of blueberries
1 guava
2 pineapple guava
5 tangerines
1 large yellow peach
a couple of big slices of tomato

plus a little bit of apricot and mango in a yogurt

Best hotel. You taking the kid? If you get a crib the butler will bring you a tiny bathrobe for him to wear.

Man, it be worth an anniversary weekend alone just to get him that robe.

I was telling a friend about going to NYC, and doing the Starwood points thing, and he told me the St. Regis NYC is his favorite hotel in the world.

Going to do dinner here next week.
My friend Todd is the chef and it's been a while since I've had his food.

That bucatini with the duck egg is his signature dish. I don't see how I am going to be able to avoid ordering that.

Yes.

These are the same type of people that are telling you Coco Puffs, Froot Loops and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are a healthier* option because they are manufactured somewhere within the same time zone as actual whole grains.

*Always "healthier", never "healthy".

Yeah, aside from Beach Trips, which let's face it, when you live 3 hours from Destin don't fucking count - this may be the first actual "vacation" of my life. Like, not going to a friend's wedding, or a football game or anything. It's also a week after our anniversary, and a week before Christmas. Should be the perfect romantic setting to serve her with divorce papers
