If you say so.

Is the contsant mentioning of pills supposed to make you seem edgy or something? I'm confused.

And, people in glass houses should not throw stones

you criticize someone for not eating at an authentic Moroccan and yet you ate frequently at a KFC while in Thailand

This thread has taken an unexpected turn. Not sure I understand what y'all fighting about.

If we all ate authentic meals, they're would be like 5 different types of food to eat. The Korean BBQ poboy I had last weekend wasn't authentic but sure was tasty.

Meh. I just took offense that somehow serving mojitos and having Belly dancing equals inauthentic Moroccan.

After reading up on the owner/chef it appears he grew up in Morocco for the first 20 years of his life and studied visual and culinary arts in West Europe before eventually opening his first restaurant in San Francisco in the 70's. One in Denver in the 80's where he also taught North African studies of culture and philosophy. He came to Atlanta in the 90's and opened this place in 1991. He's won multiple regional and national awards.

I only mention that because he has an interesting background and the food was flat out great as well as the ambience. If the guy wants to serve mojitos or Budweiser and have belly dancers it doesn't make it inauthentic, just makes him a good restauranteur/businessman. I wouldn't take offense that having Budweiser on the menu could mean that some Americans DO need their culture spoon fed to them though. But just don't discount the guy that's been doing his thing for 50 years.

Anyway, Pete, if you're ever down here we'll go check it out and you can judge for yourself.

Where is the backpedal? I'm teasing Derris about his OP about the Moroccan restaurant experience. It made me chuckle. "Some tables were even smoking out of hookahs". I'm sorry.

Also, in a city where competition is FIERCE in the restaurant biz and having a place stay open for a couple years is no small feat, having a ethnic place stay open for almost 20 years in the heart of fried chicken country is a testament to it's quality IMO.

You walk into a truly authentic place, and the menu isn't even in English anyway. And it's typically a dump in some strip mall. Which in turn is kind of inauthentic because it would be in a nicer, more high-profile place in its country of origin. If the owner doesn't want to just cater to a small group of immigrants, they have to make some concessions and accommodations to the local crowd.

Burger King in Seoul serves bulgogi burgers.

Probably just because it's cheaper to get here than Sakara Gold and tastes about the same.

Yeah, that there was a lot of overreaction to some good natured ribbing.

Give 'em hell, Carpfucker!

Any obner thoughts on James Carville telling Obama to borrow a pair of Hillary's balls? I kind of love his response to the uproar, "If I offended anybody, I am not sorry and I do not apologize."

I'm not familiar with the controversy but on first blush I'd say it pretty well encapsulates how I feel about Barry & The Jets right now.

Also, there's irony in them thar hills that people on the left have been trying to will Barry into acting more like that apple of their discontent, George Dubya, for pretty much his whole term.
