Anyone gonna try and go out and pick up any goodies?

Planning on a 10am run to Vintage Vinyl (best metal shop on the east coast) for

Metallica - Live @ Grimeys - 2x10" clear vinyl
Off - 1st 4 ep's...

nothing else of note I want that bad, but I am sure I i find many things to give to my wife to give back to me for x-mas!

Everything can be ordered online, so nope. Not gonna face the crowds. I already pre-ordered a few things from various indie stores.

I don't want to do that until I have to...

The day that record stores are a thing of the past, is gonna be crushing crushing day for my soul!

I'll be in North Carolina, so hoping to hit up a few stores there.

Also, the hour and a half drive+ to one that is participating isn't very comforting.

It makes sense in my mind because the money is going to an indie store whether I walk in or order online. At the end of the day, it all ends up on their bottom line.

true.....and i am spoiled with my store being 30 minutes away, but there is no rush like picking through bins in person....
i do enough online shopping...i cherish when i can go out by myself and shop......it's my church/sanctuary.

Oh, absolutely. I love digging. But, for sales like this--where the main goal is to pick up a specially released album/EP/single? After last year's summer record store day debacle (see my ebay rant somewhere), I decided to pre-order. Generally speaking though, I definitely love digging and do so whenever I'm around a store.

Dale, I stayed with a friend in Greenville a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it surprisingly. Not sure how much time you're gonig to spend there but the little downtown area with all the restaurants, bars, and shops is actually kind of nice. Really quaint and friendly. Greenville is home to Furman University so there is a small amount college atmosphere to it as well.

I highly recommend going to the Bohemian Cafe and then to Horizon Records after your lunch or dinner.

It's pretty cool because not only are they attached but both spaces open into each other. Pretty good eats and microbrews and the music that is playing there is the music that the people in the record store are playing. We went and had several drinks and then went record shopping.

Check it:

Horizon Records: http://blog.horizonrecords.net/

Also went to Ear Shot records there as well which is solid but not as charming as Horizon. Ear Shot is much bigger and with a far bigger selection of cd's but much less vinyl than Horizon.

Second this. Picked up that new Mary Gauthier album when I was up there this Fall.

Solid spot but a little out of the way (at least where I was coming from).

Dale, if you make it to downtown Asheville stop by Karmasonic, Voltage and Static Age for record shops; Malaprops is a great bookstore if you're into that (I picked up a great street art 2011 calendar while there). They're all a couple of blocks away from each other. Grab some grub at Lab (Lexington Ave Brewing Co)

Harvest Recs is in West Asheville. Sunny Point Cafe and The Admiral is good eats over there.

femdisco and I like to play spot the Subaru in Asheville. Back in '08 we counted 200+ in two days. After the first night, we gave up keeping count after 80 because it was so ridiculous this time around. "Soob!".

Fuck I love that city.

Nice. My DBT 10" came in the mail today. Glad to actually have it for Thanksgiving.

*edit* looks like some of the vinyl is "sold out" until they see how much is leftover after the black friday crowd.

Guessing you'll get it Friday then. If you didn't receive word that it was sold out, I'm sure its on its way.
