I'm typing with one hand that works and one finger off my right hand.

So I'm running into our bldg which is next door to my work to let someone into the garage and my leg slips out from under me and i twist my ankle, destroy my two middle fingers on my right hand and also cushion my fall with the right side of my head.

The doorman saw everything and ran and got my boss and our client at the time is a dr so she ran out too. I was flipping.

So after completely bawling and hyperventilating at that, josh came down and got me. I'm home and I have two fingers that won't bend hardly at all and standing and walking pose a problem.

Fucking hell. Nice way to start the weekend. Oh and it's lousy timing cause my son is coming over tyoday I have no idea how I'm going to pick him up from school and josh is leaving for Lansing in two hrs to play a show tonight.

Ok, back to my couch. OR Im staying put here for a bit, don't wanna keep getting up. That whole walking thing.

The more important question is, did you shower today?

Shit! Sorry to hear that. I'm assuming you tried to break your fall with your hands.

About 3 years ago I fell down some stairs, broke my fall with my right hand and ended up breaking whatever it is that goes from my ring finger down to my wrist.

Not a pleasant experience but I won't go into further details because I don't want to further bum you out until you know what the deal is.

I have a badly swollen ankle that's being iced. two fingers that are slowly coming back to me and a goose egg on my head, which hurts a little.

A friend came over and kept me company for a bit and my little brother is picking up my son right now, and he brought me some vicodin and some other painkiller too(which both scare me cause I don't like anything stronger then aleve). So hes staying and having dinner with us tonight and helping me with my son. Very cool of him(turns out he likes my friend who is my co-worker and she's going with me to the show tomorrow so he wants to go now too-they went out one night last week. aww).

I wiped out on my bike last summer in the middle of Comm ave and fractured my wrist and got a few scrapes. Not fun.

It would've been funny though if I'd gotten right back up and stumbled around like Trevor Berbick after getting nailed by Tyson.

Odd, I thought you were the King of Carrot Flowers.

I hate falls and full body injuries. After most of the pain subsides I kinda have to laugh at myself though.

Once, I went surfing. My ankle got caught in an awkwardly bent position under the break of an 8-footer. I couldn't remove it. It was trapped between my board and the water. I got out of the ocean immediately and "walked it off". However, I thought at first I had broken it. Luckily I hadn't. This all happened during my lunch break while working construction. So, I went back to work the same day. Limping, mind you. The ankle felt better a bit by the time the whistle blew. So, I decided to jump off this partially completed deck. My other foot landed straight on top of a nail. It went so far in that I could see the point of the nail moving around on the top of my foot. My dad, who is a doctor, couldn't find the last time I had to get a tetnus(sp) shot. So, I had to go get one of those, which kind of immobilizes the arm you get it in. So, I had to go to work the next day and I kinda felt like quasimodo. Limping on both feet with only the use of one arm. However, I looked ridiculous and had to laugh at my clumsiness.

At any rate, I hope that the pain doesn't last too long. I know those aches oh so well. I think the fingers part is the worst.

in the interest of hopefully making you feel better, jen, here is my tangent:

almost exactly one year ago, i did the exact same thing. i saw riviera at the metro, it was march 31st, and i possibly took one too many shots of whiskey that night. walking to my friend's apartment, i took quite a spill and tripped over a curb trying to cross western. while i could barely walk with a swollen foot, i saw the decemberists the next night and was convinced that 'red right ankle' was written just for me. anyways, the point of this story is that i recovered and you will too, and we are going to have much fun tonight. the end.
