I see what you mean Z but I can't say I care for any of the characters outside of the main character (and honestly I'm not all that invested in him and wouldn't mind him being eaten), the asian kid, and the father and son. Maybe the friend. So I'm invested in 5 at this point. I'm really just pulling for the Asian and the father and son.

You like five of the characters and that's not enough? You don't think they're maybe setting up some of these dudes so you'll be really glad when they get eaten? You're not supposed to like everyone. Characters that are killed off within 4-5 episodes might as well suck. I mean, how awful would it be if they killed off Glenn (the Asian kid) in the next episode? Because I fully agree that he's the most likeable character so far, and you can bet that's not by accident.

And trust me, characters you like will die, too, but not this early on.

And lastly, before we keep going back and forth on this again and you keep suggesting that I have some problem with you just not liking this show, that's not it at all. I took issue with some grander statements that you made about how a show about zombies shouldn't try to have any kind of real story or character development. Or that it should have to work this way or that it's missing this element, etc.

Oh, I said invested not liked. But this is proving my point-it's a zombie show, let's get on with the eatin' or at least threat of eatin.' I think tv limits my ability to enjoy character development in anticipation of zombie lunch. The creators have to work around that problem and I don't think they're all that successful at this point. I think you're already invested because you read the books.

Drink, I love talking about any song, album, tv show, movie, etc. and debating their merits back and forth. I don't think you have a problem with me. I just thought my comments were innocuous. I personally find cheap thrills Zombie stuff more entertaining and the creators haven't sold me on anything else in this show.

I thought it was more just terrible acting than a terrible storyline.

Is that in the actual comic?

No.

I thought it was fine when you thought they were gangbangers but as soon as the old lady came out I sorta lost interest.

I really thought Rick was finally gonna use that grenade too.

Agreed. When I thought they were gangsters, I thought to myself, "America is in deep shit if zombie plague can't eradicate the urban gang problem."

I know I have to allow for some jumps of logic. But the zombies can take out the US military inside of tanks but can't overcome a sealed old folks home while the grannies play bingo?

Grannies don't taste good. Even Zombies have standards.

rednecks and gangs have more guns than anyone. If you're gonna stick around for the zombie apocalypse, be prepared to spend it with a lot of unsavory people.

key word. The tank clearly wasn't sealed. That part of the plot didn't but me as much, especially since I can see Kirkman AND Darabont both coming up with something like that. At first, though, I thought they were gonna be blowing plot lines from much later.

That last episode was pretty bad, I have to admit. Even with some useless characters finally getting offed, it still feels like they're wasting time on pointless shit.

With the episode Kirkman himself wrote being that bad, I have little hope for this series now.

ew, I don't know about this.

Also, if they retroscript this "cause" of the outbreak into the books I'm gonna be pissed.

yeah I don't know how a show about zombies could lose me, but I want Rick to get bit and die. Pulling for Shane at this point.

Maybe my expectations were lowered by the previous episode and I was expecting this to be really horrible, but I really wasn't too bothered by it. I never really thought that any explanation of the cause was going to be particularly good or interesting either in the show or in the book. I think it will ultimately be a footnote in the story. At least this served a purpose unlike the old folks' home, and even if that does likely come into play later on, I think a lot of things about it are always going to bother me more than this "CDC" thing probably will.

But in general I still have to say that I'm pretty disappointed in this show. None of the directors other than Darabont seem to be the least bit capable of creating suspense. Every episode since the pilot has seemed increasingly clumsy and amateurish. Here's hoping that they pull off some kind of miracle for the finale.

OK, so they had to stop on the side of the road because the RV blew a hose, but even though they explictly said they had no way to fix it, they drove off without incident after plopping future zombie Jim at his new makeshift rest stop/metamorphosis station.

WTF???

I thought that Shane went on ahead with a few others to see if there was a gas station or something? They just needed to find a needed to find a new hose, right? It never explained where they went or what they found, but I guess we were just supposed to assume that they got what they needed, came back, and fixed the RV. Kind of weird that there was no acknowledgment of this at all after they put Jim up against the tree and drove off. I mentioned the same thing to my wife. "Uh, I guess they fixed the RV?"

Same thing I said. Sounds like an editing room issue. Shane left, then BAM he was back and had an opinion about what to do with Jim. haha

The old man must've found some duct tape.

The bright light coming out of the CDC garage door was over the top. Also, the "CDC" is actually the Cobb Energy Centre in North Atlanta.

That whole scene was handled pretty badly. Zero suspense even though it was trying really, really hard to be suspenseful.

Yeah that was probably the worst part of the episode. I thought everything up until they found the CDC was really good. Andrea & Amy, Carol finishing off her husband, Rick and Shane in the woods all kind of foreshadowed stuff that'll happen in the comic. The part when they left Jim in the woods was well handled too though I thought Daryl was going to put an arrow in his head as they left.

So what you are saying is that you don't have any difficulty in believing that Zombies have taken over the world but the fact that they were somehow able to get an old RV to start is just unbelievable.
