They probably consider themselves "Christians". (Which is fine, if they actually ARE, but in this case, they are obviously NOT.)
I would throw the bible in their face and tell them that they're going to hell.
Then I would point out that, since Jesus was a Northern African Semite, he was most-likely at least dark-skinned, if not entirely black.
But, of course, idiots like that never listen to logic, anyway.
Oh yeah, then I would move the fuck out of the neighborhood as fast as I could.
As surprising as it seems, it's a good street to live on. It's just them. All of my other neighbors are the nicest people. I have the sweetest old lady next door. The whole street just looks at them and shakes their head. Also living in a smaller area like Houma doesn't provide the options that my price bracket can afford. I am actually pretty lucky to live where I do.
And to kick it all off. They are training their dogs to fight.
If they are from Houma, La., they are probably not just Christian, they are more likely Catholic (as are most people in Southern Louisiana) and throwing the Bible at them won't make the least bit of difference - Catholicism is rooted in "tradition", not necessarily "scripture", and in SoLa, the cultural "tradition" is one of "separateness" (at a minimum) -- especially in the smaller communities.
To be honest, you can't really "logic" your way through an argument with a lot of the people in smaller towns in SoLa. The invitation to come in and have fun is always there, but, if you are not from there and you start to tell them they are wrong about the way they live, you'll probably get a big "fuck you" from them, their family and eventually, you might get it from the rest of the (white) community.
Most people don't really acknowledge the separate cultures or make a big deal about it, but, it definitely exists (cajun vs. creole culture and food; cajun vs. zydeco music, etc.).
As an aside, I thought dogfighting was illegal in Louisiana (although I think you can still go to cockfights - at least you could about 10 years ago). You can probably speak to the cops about that one. . .
