iWith the last remanants of my gift card, I am considering this collection:

I've seen songs get quick mentions here and there by a few of you. (Billy G?)
Sounds like my kinda thing. Anyone want to chime in here?
Is this the one that I should be getting, or would I be better served to just dive into their albums?

I saw them do a reunion gig about 5 years ago at one of those International Pop Overthrow shows and really liked them. They sounded a bit like early REM but with more pop to their sound although that probably makes them sound better than they really are. I bought that comp really because it was the only thing I could find by them so I'm guessing its the way to go rather than studio albums. Its pretty good I suppose but I wouldn't call it essential by any means and they don't have quite the same life to their sound on record as live. I hesitate to really recommend it because I think there are probably much bigger holes in your collection but if you like stuff like Let's Active, the DB's and early REM (although again don't expect them to be that good), you'd probably like them. You could certainly do far worse with your gift certificate.
