I just can't bring myself to come up with a clever "DEAD" headline for this one.
He should have made the HOF in his lifetime.

He wasn't doing so well for a number of years though, so while it's sad to see one of the greats go... he earned a rest.

Loved Santo. He and Pat Hughes were the best cubs announcers since Stone and Harry Caray. Deserved the Hall too.

being from the south side i will always hate the cubs forever into infinity but i watched a lot of cubs games in the 60s on wgn and santo, banks and williams were good bad guys.
