Is there an explanation for Wisconsin being ranked ahead of Michigan State/ going to the Rose Bowl?

They lost early to Michigan State and rebounded with wins over Iowa and Ohio State.
Michigan State got blown out by an Iowa team that has fallen off the map since their victory over the Spartans.
Also the Badgers are putting up a crap ton of points, which definitely impresses the voters.

MSU did beat UW, but the in the remaining schedule Wisconsin played much better football. MSU barely beat their last two opponents in Purdue and Penn State, coming from behind in both games, and lost to #18 Iowa two weeks before. Wisconsin beat #1 OSU, #15 Iowa...beat their last three opponents by a combined 201-71.

Or, the BCS is bullshit and has made style points count.

I can't even listen to sports talk radio this week. TCU going to the Big East, the Cam Newton shit, the endless speculation of bowl scenarios, griping about how much the BCS sucks, and the fact that the title game is almost 6 weeks away.

It's enough to make me drive into oncoming traffic.

I'm glad it worked out in Wisconsin's favor, but I totally agree.

I can't wait to watch that Rose Bowl. At least one of my teams had a great year, not that I paid incredibly close attention or anything.

I hope LSU plays Texas A&M in the Cotton. That's an old rivalry that was discontinued and I'd love to see it reignited.

after their ot defeat of in-state rival arizona last night, i was curious about how arizona st. ended up with such a poor record this season

i was shocked to learn they lost to wisconsin, oregon and stanford by a COMBINED TOTAL OF 16 POINTS (only 1 to wisconsin and 4 to stanford)

most impressive 6-6 season ever?

They should bring that game back on the regular: I love those sorta regional, out of conference rivalry games. (Georgia-Clemson is the one that immediately comes to mind).

Any chance South Carolina pulls it off tomorrow? Oregon State?

I'm looking forward to FSU-Virginia Tech: Two teams I sort of casually root for if they are playing on a random Saturday. I'll also be rooting for Nebraska just for the awkward podium scene during the trophy presentation.

I think SC gives them a fight, but this Auburn squad seems like a fucking juggernaut after last week's cumbath...er, comeback. In the small part of my being that I can bring to care about this game, my absolute and utter fucking hatred for The Old Ball Licker..er, Coach, outweighs my relative dislike of Auburn and their Two Mascot Mildly Retarded Fans and "Family."

Oregon State's not supposed to be in the same league as Oregon, but who knows?

I think I've mellowed on Spurrier...maybe it's because, compared to the robotic and downright evil Corch Irving Meyers, he's actually pretty fucking entertaining.

BUT, if the Cawks win, that would put Visor into a tie with Vince for the second most SEC titles of all time, and we can't have that. Go Backpack Nuke!

Approach-avoidance. For some reason I really want SC to beat Auburn today... but the idea of TCU in the MNC seems kinda lightweight-boring to me. Maybe have Auburn totally destroy the spurrierians and come in to NC prohibitive favorties and then have Oregon break their hearts. Not sure why I hate Auburn (the thugs) .... maybe because in my youth a niece of a sister-in-law was an Auburn cheerleader... I was a hippie and she was a cosmetic-addicted prissy hairsprayed tightytwat who said "the boys would kill any nigras who came to our school." Auburn... no.

i have no idea what Harry is talking about (like usual) but I wanted to remind him that VCU beat UCLA at basketball a few weeks ago, which was pretty great.

Auburn ...no. Pretty clear statement, right? Only second language interpolation that might help... Auburn.. no no.

Yeah, that was a hard loss... but not as hard as the one point Official's Fail against Kansas this week. Bruin Basketball will be better next year... this year we'll make the 64 but unlikely the 16. Josh Smith... you'll hear this name in the next couple years. And the next years Twin White Boy Towers.... Final Four team next year.

Or in ... simpler.... terms:

UCLA BB - this year eh. Next year good good.

And since she was ostensibly family, even your hippie sensibilities wouldn't let you either A) grudge fuck her or B) invite The Panthers over to do your dirty work. It's really a shame when morals get in the way of other morals.

Off to watch the Civil War. Kind of torn. I'd like to see an OR team in the championship game, but I'd also like to see some Duck fans cry.

Post where Derris plays his SEC homer card. This will be Auburns 6th game against a top 20 team. Even if they lose they should still play for it all just based on resume. No other 1 loss has more than 3 games against the Top 20. (I don't think).

I know this won't happen but it should. FWIW, I'm pulling for South Cack.
