I'd like to throw a little love toward Levon Helm.

Jim Eno's pretty durn good, too.

And can I get a witness for Chris Franz?

Levon=yes

Franz=like the band that uses his last name for their first: good, but average, very average...

the thing about the Talking Heads is that you have to read the liner notes carefully; the 'Heads best playing (musically) is oftentimes done by other peeps (i meeeeeeeeean, its not a dis,....they wrote the shit and all)

edit: oh fuck, here comes the shitrain...

Aaron "A-Train" Smith. He's the man on the far left. He was also the drummer for The Temptations and Romeo Void.

And then there's the other usual suspects: Neal Peart, Jon Bonham, etc.

I also like other obscure drummers like Frank Lenz (Lassie Foundation, Fold Zan, Starflyer 59) and Jesse Sprinkle (Poor Old Lu), and Chuck Cummings (Aunt Bettys, Michael Knott, etc.)

what does the killing joke album sound like?

on peart, even though i don't like rush i have to agree that he's a masterful drum tactician, but imo, not that great "poetically". for that, i turn to my boy pc (phil collins).

Are you familiar with KJ? If so, it's amazingly good and ranks up there with their best albums.

Their albums have been described as music to march to. Not your HS marching band either. More like stormtrooper marching. Very brutal, angry and volatile. Of course, they did go through that 80's stage where they softened up a bit.
