i really don't care too. it's my opinion that organized religion is a plague and this guy is in charge.

Being serious, I agree with Scotty. My mother in law has been on non-stop freak out between Schiavo and this, and just couldn't fathom why I wouldn't go to mass last Sunday.

Course he does.

Still, I don't have to LIKE Ghandi's religion in order to know that he was an impressive man. I don't have to APPROVE of Alexander and Napoleon's personalities or methods to appreciate what they accomplished as military leaders. I don't have to LIKE John Lydon to think the first couple of PiL albums are brilliant. I don't have to EAT brussel sprouts to know they're healthy...

I'm sure that it was on his mind constantly.

I wonder if he liked rednecks.

couldnt have said it better.

although I remember back a couple of years ago in the CMJ days, I thought a lot of Monty's posts we're pretty funny on a regular basis. He even had that alter ego that wasnt bad too (cant remember the name).

Not to get into a whole other discussion, but to think Organized Religion provides no worth is very foolish.

I work in the non-profit sector, and it would be impossible to accomplish anything without the infrastructure the Churches provide. Currently we are really trying to give services to poor african americans. The problem is there is no infrastructures in place to use. The local church is pretty much all that is available, and it provides one of the few if only place where the community comes together. They don't have much and even locating them is really difficult. Churches provide access.

For every road block which I fully acknowledge that religion creates, they provide so much more that goes comepletely unrecognized.

It really bothers me that this right wing(and I consider myself pretty conservative on alot of issues) moralistic segment has taken the forefront of religious talk in this country b/c it does a disservice to all of the religious who are out there doing good work and are not involved in all that other stuff like condemning homosexuals.

It's like the loudest segment creates a reputation that is completely unfair.
