now that the 2010 crazy can die off - i'm thinking of doing a series of threads or one thread (whichever) that all can participate in where we focus on release years. Like I'll just put out a year and then you can choose like between 1 to 5 notable releases/personal favorites from those years (links if you want) and talk about them a little or a short review/description/whatever.

i don't know everyone's collections - is it worth it to anyone to do anything pre-1955? Should I just create one that is like a catchall "pre-1955" thing and then from there every year is fair game or what

I think a catch-all for anything earlier than 1959 would be a good idea.

Most of us probably only know of a couple of albums at most for any of the years before that.

Didn't Spade Kitty put together something similar where we voted on the best album from "X" year?

Why do you think the 2010 crazy is over? Will there be a complilation of polls (shmoo like)? I am planning on spending time with what I listened to in 2010 and post top 100 after christmas. But the music thread by year is a good idea. You'll get four people playing until about 1965.

Yeah, he did and it was one of my favorite things we did on obner. I'd love to do something similar. Also, SK's edited out a lot of stuff for his poll (understandable) and didn't include country albums, etc. that I thought deserved mentioning. So this could be a lot better. I hope this involves actual discussion and doesn't devolve into "pstlinxplsthanx."

yeah I'm not going to give any guidelines. it could be your absolute favorite albums of that year or some you think deserve more credit or both, whatever. i would shoot for everybody mentioning about 3 per year, describe WHY they like it. if it something obscure -why WE might like it

I'm definitely down. I probably won't have anything for some years... but worst case scenario I can load the threads with my love for whatever The Residents album released that year.

i'm not done soaking in all of 2010. it's been an amazing year.

i don't have time nor interest in this thread idea till maybe feb/march of 2011.

i'm not actually "done" but for the past month or so, i've pretty much STRICTLY been lsitening to 2010 albums, which is a terrible idea.

Yeah, this is also better than another Dumpjack and Failgar listen to XXX's entire terrible catalogue thread.

I also like the random years idea, so you could do 1973 and then 1985 or whatever.

I don't comment in them much because I no longer post during the day and I'm always a week or two behind, but I love the "listen to XXX entire terrible catalogue" threads.

I'm a baby here (in post count only, trust me) therefore don't expect to shape this concept much but it sounds great. Eventually there would be several years/eras up and running so why not start it off that way and see which ones get the most attention?
