It's awesome but impossible to find. Was all gone from Chicago in a nanosecond. Craft beer here has jumped the fonze and you have to be willing to call in sick just to get your hands on special releases. I took a long lunch to get mine!

New Belgium Lips of Faith Vrienden Wild Ale, a collarborative beeer with Allagash

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Get a Belgian Brewmaster and a master of Belgian brewing together and theres sure to be spontaneous imagination that leads to micro-organisms mingling in fermentation.

Modeled here by our own lovely Shiv... this was very good, the little bit I had of it. Much more impressive than the Squall IPA, see below. If I recall this was wood aged and mellow while still pleasantly strong. I dug. A-

Bookended by Neuro and Sketchy. This was fine and dandy and whatnot but why is it a separate product from the regular 90 minute? I tasted no difference. A-

Holy shit that's a great Family Picture.

I had a few Allagash whites last night. That is a solid fucking beer. Nothing too fancy, just clean, crisp, and not heavy.

I spent around $40 tonight on various beer for Christmas.
I am drinking Twisted Pine Hoppy Boy IPA tonight to relax before one final day of excruciating work before the Holiday weekend.
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/twisted-pi ... ipa/16062/

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppy Boy India Pale Ale is the flagship beer of Twisted Pine. It has a rocky white head, hazy pale orange color, and hoppy citrus aroma. It has a dry, tart taste with an earthy bitterness. Cascade hops provide pleasant grapefruit and citrus notes. This classic American IPA is brewed with medium caramel malts that play off the citrus and orange rind hop flavors to make this beer most enjoyable.

Had a ton of these on my honeymoon in St. Lucia. I actually really liked it quite a bit:

Also had a couple of these, which was nice to find:

Then there was this:

Also got a kegerator from my groomsmen, so had that delivered yesterday with a bullet keg of Highland Gaelic:

Two Brothers Bare Tree Barley Wine
Image
From just around the corner from me. A really great brewery; nice to have them local.
Quote:
This unique Barley Wine Style beer is brewed iwth 57% wheat, 43% barley, and German hops. We boil the 25.2 Plato wort for three hours. Then we start the fermentation with our Hefe Weizen yeast and finish it with a Scottish Ale yeast. Bare Tree is then oak aged for over one year before its release. The resulting product is extremely complex with flavors of caramel, melon, apricot, vanilla, oak, black pepper, and subtle banana. The flavors come in large part from the raw ingredients and this will vary from year to year. Bare Tree is ready to drink now, but like wine, will age in the bottle for the next several years. So, whether you decide to enjoy a bottle now or wait many years, the Two Brothers family offer a toast: "With every bare tree lives the promise of a new life."

My wife actually wants a kegerator in the house. Only thing holding me back is money.

Tommy I had that Piton beer on St Lucia too. I gotta check out your pics on fb, see if we stayed at the same place.

Chri' muh Beers

Brasserie Dupont - Abbey
Image
Brought over by a friend for christmas evening. Spicier and drier than most, but very full and pleasant. I've had so many belgians lately it's hard for any to stand out in a good way, so let's just say B+.

The Bruery - 3 French Hens
Image
I like these guys a lot, and most of their stuff I've tried has been well above par. This was no exception. It was warm, mellow, a little spicey, had a great kick to it, and didn't taste like much else I've had. Solid A.

West Co. Cider - Ashmead's Kernel
Image
Also brought over for Christmas. My buddy Brian finds these somewhere, and seems to always have one at his house. They make (I believe he said) 14 different varieties, each made from one specific apple. The 2 I've now sampled were both unique among other ciders I've tried in that they tasted very clean, much less sugary than is the norm, and very very good. As he said, I'd love to get 3 or 4 friends together and sample all 14 at one sitting. I'd buy a case or two of their stuff in a heartbeat if I could find it and had the fundage at the time. Great cider, well made, and local as shit. Still not the "holy fuck I didn't know cider could taste this good" factor of JK's Scrumpy, but I still say it's a solid A.

Aspall - Organic English Draft Cider
Image
This was, by comparison, much more bland. Nothing "wrong" about it, but it just sorta gave me a limp, fishy english handshake and then went on its way. Better than Magner's and so forth, but not anywhere near the top of the pile. B.

Yea, she's pretty cool about it. She would probably prefer it in another room besides the dining room, but we don't have a man cave at this point and we weren't gonna pass up this gift from some of my groomsmen/ushers.

Busty - FYI I got it from Custom Home Pubs on Independence Blvd, who delivered and set it up and everything. They also deliver and switch out kegs as well from a list of about 600.

I would *absolutely* have one of those if I had somewhere for it, and some way to get kegs delivered. Can't get those fuckers in a bike trailer. Maybe I could strap a pony keg on the motorcycle, but even then, I'd be fucked in winter.
