That looks like an expensive, complicated way to make people use proprietary disposable plastic fucking cups.

Tommy I had that Piton beer on St Lucia too. I gotta check out your pics on fb, see if we stayed at the same place.

bink blond. this is decent, though i think it was maybe a little expensive. i don't even know what i've been spending on beer lately.

i bought a bottle of dogfish head black and blue today along with 3 more of those mikkeller single hop beers (chinook, warrior and nelson sauvin).

A couple of these last night, except on tap, not bottled. I've always thought the Huyghe brews are somewhat over-rated, but this was pretty tasty.

Near the top of the heap for Belgian Noels. Also 2 on tap, not bottles.

May well be THE top of the heap. 2 on tap.

Youngest son insisted I try one of these. Something in the finish coated the back of my throat like vaseline. He got the glass after 2 sips. Not my style. Nasty, even.

A couple Stellas, and 2 shots of:

A somewhat restrained, but very enjoyable, birfday outing.

I gotta find me some of that! The Abt 12 may be my favorite beer ever.

Got a case of the Allagash White for X-Mas...

After spending some time with it, while I still love it, I think I still prefer Hoegaarden more....

Hoegaarden has a little less spice to it.

that might be it....the spice is more subtle...

fine for me...Hoegaarden is much easier and cheaper to get anyways....

Thursday night:

Friday:

The World Wide Stout has 18% ABV. It's intense. Won't be drinking it again.

The Trappistes Rochefort 10 is mindblowingly good, and even with 11% abv, it's smooth in a way only monks can create. This Quadrupel is for full-bodied red wine lovers who think they don't like ales.

Haven't had this christmas one, but yeah their normal fair is good but somehow has goten hyped to be INCREGGIBLE. It's a little sharp-nosed for me, but I like it enough I guess.

LOVE Bernardus, and would love to try this guy. Damn.

Never heard of them... crazy. I thought we got something from pretty much ALL the belgians that export around these parts. EVen if I haven't had one, ususally I at least recognize the name, but nada.

Left Hand is a mediocre brewery with no "hit" beers, really. Even mediocre places usually find their stride with one variety, where the result is better than the sum of the parts (Spotted Cow from New Glarus in WI, Double Bag from Long Trail in VT.) I've had their sampler 12 pack, and this was as close as they got, from what I had. Meeeeehhhh.

Even at the end of the evening, these guys blew me away at the Belgian Fest. You're 100% right, there's something so fucking smooth about their stuff, it's amazing.

Trader Joe's 2010 Vintage Ale from Unibroue.

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10707/63668

A 9.2% ABV Belgian Dark Ale brewed with spices. A 750ml bottle cost me $4.99
I really need to buy a few more bottles for that price and attempt to age them over the next year.

If you don't like THAT, you should switch to Drano immediately .

I had it last night, and yes it was as good as a tripel gets. Great combo of sharp / tart with mellow finish. Watching Percy Jackson on netflix at the same time was a poor pairing, but whaddya gonna do... shit's gotta get watched.

Oh and cheers, bitches, here's to 2011...

Picasa. Took maybe 3 minutes, and you can choose the aspect ratio, like 16:9, 4:6 etc.
