shiv, assuming that is in reference to last night?

I could argue we're sans Joe Johnson right now but I don't think it would've mattered the way the C's are playing right now. Hawks have regressed so far this year and I'm starting to have open contempt for them. Still, too early.

Speaking of early, that's really the biggest obstacle to the C's winning the East, their health. Lots of years on the floor and May/June is a long way away.

The pic is actually from the game against the knicks the night before.

You've been divorced too long, already, & need to get laid.

Go to a strip-club, if nothing else.

On the risk versus reward meter, the Orlando Magic just shattered the meter. But I think everybody knows they weren't going to win with Vince and Lewis, they kept Jameer, got a legit piece in Richardson, a piece that did well in their system in Hedo and fuck, Arenas could go insane and will them to Big Things.

I like it because good teams can hit a ceiling and have to either move to raise the ceiling or blow it up.

I agree with everything here, except that I'm starting to worry about Dwight pulling a Lebron and forcing the team to panic about contender status, only to find themselves without tradeable assets when he decides to leave his option on the table and test free agency. How does Dwight feel about his hometown?

I assume he feels pretty good about it and I'd be willing to run by the airport and pick him up if need be.

What I want the Hawks to do right now is trade Joe Johnson for Carmelo, straight up (tried it on the trade machine and it works!) If 'Melo decides he likes it here, we resign, if not, go to New York and we'll figure it out.

Man, the Lakers got boat raced yesterday.

First time I've seen them play since Game 7 of the Finals: Kobe looks hurt, but was playing a pretty good facilitator/floor general game; Pau's head was not in the game and Odom I thought looked really good (I like him anyways).

As for the Heat, that's the second time I've seen them them play this week and the second LeBron 3/2. If Bosh and the supporting cast are going to be as effective as they were yesterday, I think Wade may want to take some games off now and then come back in time to get the chemistry good before the playoffs instead of his knee going out in Game 3 against the Bulls when they really need him. I know they wanted to showcase in the biggest regular season game so far, but that's too many minutes for D-Wade.

I had put up with five of my daughter's grandparents (with two great grandparents added in as a depressing reminder of the perils of getting really fucking old) coming through my house over the course of the day, and really needed a more competitive game to relax to. Shame on the Lakers.

Yeah, my people were not sold on a basketball game in the first place. Add in a farcical competition like this and we quickly went back to Christmas Muzak on damn ol cable.

I had endured the Sirius/XM version of that all damn day and even dramatically told my wife to "say goodbye to Christmas music for 2010" when I flipped the channel. She was fine with it: once we had had to basically carry the super olds to their car, all she cared about was a bottle of wine or 3.

Earl does it again in leading the Bucks over the Mavs on New Year's Day. Bucks playing decent even without Jennings.

spurs at 29-4 now off to 2nd-best start in nba history, behind '95 bulls, who started 40-3

hey, I'm all for the Spurs beating out pretty much anyone predicted to win this year, but I honestly can't remember the last time Manu played a full season.
