It is looking like I might go with work on some TVs in the staples center for a few weeks.
Late Jan/early Feb.
I want to go beach crazy with a rental convertible.

I'm not far, but as far as I know, Billy and Saint (?) are still out here? Tania is cirrently on hiatus.

Depending on when you're out, I might be around for a meet-up. I can also offer some fun stuff to do, but I'm betting everyone I listed above knows the city better than I.

It is out of the question because I hate the Red Sox.

Postmersh is the only other obner from LA that Cotton didn't mention. I haven't noticed him posting lately though and I'm not sure anyone has met him so he may just be a Bot.

I have a hard time planning more than a few days in advance but I live about 15 minutes from Staples Center so there is decent potential for a meetup and feel free to ask for advice about things to do, places to eat and drink, etc.

I'm convinced that the Red Sox are engaged in a social experiment to see how expensive they can sell the smallest possible cup of beer and the fans will still buy it. I've bought ludicrously over-priced beer before, but never was it sold in such a small cup. I literally drank my beer before I made it back to my seat. Had to buy 2 at a time just to have something to drink while watched the game.

It is ... amazing, in all the worst ways. I "know" it's coming before I even go up to get a beer, and it STILL sucks the wind out of me when it costs that much, for Swill no less. I've been to 2 or 3 games, and I think I wound up buying like 2 or 3 at one time just to get it over with.

How much is a beer in Fenway? In GABP, it was $7.75 last year.

Sixty motherfucking cents an ounce. So, like for a 16 oz beer it's $8.40 I guess.

I don't work on the jumbotrons, but I do get yelled at by the people that do if I accidentally call them jumbotrons. Are the Rangers really installing one as big as the Cowboys? Some of my favorite coworkers are in that Cowboys Stadium. I'm pushing hard to get added to the Superbowl support. Don't know if they need help though.

That price doesn't seem so bad really. Your tab at the end of the night isn't going to be that much more than at other stadiums plus you probably have lots of bars around Fenway to drink at before and after the game and not feel the need to have as many during the game. The 12 ounce pour is annoying though. You get a bad pour or spill a little bit and you end up with a half a beer by the time you're back to your seat.

I think I was paying $12 a beer at Dodger Stadium last summer but it was for a bigger and more premium beer.

ahem.

but if you ever go to fenway, just go to the lower depths on comm ave before and after the game. They have really good beers that you don't mind paying for.

yeah but you can go into left field and get Guinness for something like $8.25. It's great!

And I'm more surprised that you people are shocked about the quality and price of beers at a ballpark. Of course it's going to be shitty beer because they're catering to the masses and people are fucking dumb.

I still think it's pretty nuts that you can buy shots and mixed drinks on the concourse at Anaheim

And, because they don't really make much from ticket sales (profit-wise) they have to gouge you every fucking which way they can.

I mean, I literally cannot remember the last time I purchased tickets to a sporting event, and most the time the folks that give me tickets have a parking pass, or what have you. So, that's two places their not making money off of me, but if you've met me (or can glean things through reading comprehension) you know DAMN well I don't have a problem dropping a bill on beers. Then again, last time I went to a Big League baseball game was the second date I had with my wife....5 years ago.

It's the combo of small size and high price that makes Fenway's beer annoying. Like I originally said, I'm accustomed to overpaying (I went to Fenway as part of a road trip to every baseball park in the NE), but the size and the price was insane. I would have paid 15 bucks to be given enough beer to sit down and enjoy at least an inning of baseball with cheap beer on my lips.

Bump.

I'm flying in on the evening of Sunday the Jan 23rd.
I'm staying here -> http://www.luxecitycenter.com/

I will be around all week long, flying out friday night.

Since it's right across from the staples center I'm going to try and be carless this trip.
I'll just bump this on a daily basis and see if any of you can meet catswilleatyou. Ideally near me, but if there's nothing cool to see there I can expense a cab or whatever too.
