To Harry's "point"

Vanderbilt Admissions Data (2008):

* Percent of Applicants Admitted: 25%
* Test Scores -- 25th / 75th Percentile
o SAT Critical Reading: 650 / 740
o SAT Math: 680 / 760
o SAT Writing: 650 / 730

Total full-time students: 11,876
Total part-time students: 838

TOTAL: 12,714

arguably, the Stanford of the South (without the high tech concentration). Vandy football sucks, and Vandy is something like the 3rd most expensive private school in the US.

Wasn't trying to dis the U of G's academic standings... it is one of the better public universities in the US. Just pointing out that Stanford is a very unlikely football powerhouse and that a characteristic of their teams over the years is athletes who are smart, articulate. Among UCLA fans there is weeping and wailing about the ever more rigorous admission standards that are NOT waived... and this is pointed to as a reason UCLA doesn't field championship football teams (nor, more recently, teams that can beat Division II teams). Also... 6500 undergraduate pool of students is pretty small for all the top drawer teams that Stanford puts out...

Quote:
Through the spring 2010 sports season, Stanford has won 113 national championships. Of these, 99 are NCAA team championships, second most among all universities (UCLA ranks first). Of the 99 championships, 60 are in men's sports (third behind UCLA and USC) and 39 are in women's sports, the most of any university.[2] Stanford also holds the most NCAA individual sport titles at 421 championships, followed by USC at 358, and Texas at 303.[3]

I love it. I realize that he's losing more money than my mind can even comprehend. But I love the idea of a guy relishing being the big man on campus.

i think this is win-win. dude sounds relatively bright - outside of the rhodes scholar from fsu a few years back i don't know many football players studying architectural design in school. on schedule to graduate next spring as a junior. and with a lockout impending this seems to work in his favor. also, i don't think he's hurting for money - pops is the AD @ WVU. the millions, boobs & 3-inch rails can probably wait one more year.

y'all really don't think this is just some brilliant strategy where he will be re-united with Harbaugh in Miami in 2012 and the Dolphins end up winning the next 10 Super Bowls?

because that's what i'm getting out of it.

yeah as a bengals fan I recognize a franchise that's not investing in winning. I wouldn't want to play there either.

Sorry Maryland fans, but you're new OC is Gary Crowton. You can expect an amazing offense next year followed by a decent into crapitude. But thanks for taking him off our hands.

Rick Neuheisel and Mark Richt seem to be the consensus picks for coaches on the Hot seat in 2011, with Dabo Swinney of Clemson getting some publicity.

Maybe not on CMR:
Public Policy Polling Wrote:
Georgia and Georgia Tech fans are both pretty content with their football coaches. Mark Richt has a 59/15 approval rating with fans of the Bulldogs and Paul Johnson is at 53/9 with Yellow Jackets fans. The Richt numbers are particularly interesting- even though the program has been down a little bit the last couple of years his fan base still seems to be pretty content with him.

The Husker Spring game is today. I'm not paying ten bucks to watch a glorified practice for three hours, but I am going to hangout with Ndamukong Suh at an attempt for the world's largest tweetup.
