so the school asks cam's daddy not to attend the game? that seems a bit extreme for an innocent party.

Well, he WAS guilty of asking Miss St for money. AU felt he would be a distraction.

FWIW, he didn't attend the Heisman ceremony either.

Did anyone see the illegal motion on that play that led to the Safety?? I went back and watched it 4 times and didn't see anything.

Also, can we all agree that the field is GARBAGE???? Guys have been slipping all over the place on both teams - for a minute it looked like the Duck player was going to be seriously hurt when he slipped chasing Cam and twisted his leg all up.

Great. Investigations in 2014 strip Auburn of the NC and Newton of the Heisman.

But more realistically... when O couldn't score from the 1, they didn't deserve to win...

Does that mean Auburn didn't deserve to win because they couldn't score from the 1 earlier?

Turned into a great game. Oregon had the speed just not the size in the trenches. After all was talked about the offenses, Auburns D won it for them.

But yeah, hopefully there is some eager IRS or FBI agent poring over the evidence to bring it all down.

O not being able to score (at that point in the game) exposed O's inability to make the blocks, to move the Auburn line. Auburn didn't score because Newton missed an easy throw to an open receiver. To me they are not equal "fails." National championship team should be able to run in in from the .5 yard line.

Can we agree that giving the two best teams in a sport more than a month off isn't the best recipe for producing two halves of well-played football?

Tweet of the year so far, from a Bammer friend: "Damn, Nick Fairley look like Precious up there on stage"

I thought he had the Predator hair, so I didn't recognize him as the player standing next to Chizik. I literally said "I bet that dude's nickname is Pooh or Pooh Bear"

Speaking of Fairley, Carolina will have to make a pretty compelling argument to draft a QB over him...Anybody that would draft toothpick-legged AJ Green over him is just a damn fool.

I probably say this every year, but how does 1AA (or whatever they are calling it now) have a playoff system that works, and D1 doesn't?

Was it "Herbie" that said he was just as good as OlDonkeyKong Fuh?

(Also, the constant referencing to "Herbie" gave me CHH last night)

Yeah, I chuckled when I heard that one.
I think Fairley is a great player, but in no way would I immediately bump him up to the #1 spot in the draft because of the BCS title game. Patrick Peterson of LSU is the only Defensive player this year who seems to be worthy of bumping off a QB for the top spot.

As for the comparison to Suh, I'm biased and will always take Suh. Fairley had one more sack than Suh did last year, but had more than twenty fewer solo tackles this season compared to Suh last season, and has never blocked a kicked or scored a defensive td courtesty of an interception return.

Pro, the rumors are flying that Bo Pellini will be coaching LSU next year.

Both Fairly and Darron Thomas could have played for LSU. Thomas originally committed to LSU but backed off when Miles didn't talk about him as a QB enough on his visit. Fairly was back-burned for other DLs in his class but LSU was initially his favorite. Sucks to see what could have been given LSU's horrible QB play all year.

If I'm Pellini, I got to LSU for much the same reasons I go to Michigan if I'm Les Miles: These people don't like me and/or appreciate what I'm doing despite my ability to win football games and my healthy dose of the crazy. Fuck it, I'm out.

Agreed.

A friend called me last night and said, "some fans will be pissed that Les didn't stay because now he can't prove them right that he was a bad coach all along."

It's only a few members of the Omaha media that really don't seem to like Pelini or his antics, the vast majority of fans under 50yrs of age love the guy. His wife seems to like it here too, and allegedly hated living in Baton Rouge. If he leaves Lincoln, it is for the money and the fact that LSU seems to be primed for a title run next season.
Husker fans seem to be more worried about whether or not he has the balls to fire most of the offensive coaching staff and talk Osborne and Co. into paying top dollar for a quality Offensive Coordinator.
I'm not really sweating it at this point, but there is certainly an elevated sense of people anxiously waiting for all the dominos to fall this week.

There's no 800 lb. gorilla of Tiger football like Tom Osborne hoovering over the program in Baton Rouge.
