I would vote the latter. I don't recall them ever doing late night before Fallon, but I know they had at least one world tour to support Change in late '01. I remember a blog post from Japan about camera phones and how Travis was totally geeking out seeing them at their show.

They were certainly indie darlings, but their acclaim was essentially limited to American critics.

Show was awesome, band was tight. We lined up right before 7 in the snow so we could get a spot right up front.

Which we did, about 5 feet from the front on the Jason side.

After a long day of drinking, I don't remember a ton of specifics, other than the band was on point and I had a blast and did a lot of air snapping and dancing and singing along and accidental moshing since the teenage guys right behind the front were doing that.

I also finally got to get on stage during "Ice of Boston," which I had never done before. So I can cross that off the bucket list.

air snapping?

i was going to try to get up on stage but i was too far back and the stage was crowded by the time i got near it. there were still about 3 deep in front of me. i was up on stage for a girl talk show but it was in providence and the bouncers freaked out because of that station nightclub fire and promptly kicked everyone off.

i took a few cellphone pics but they're probably awful.

Since I was holding a camera for most of the show, instead of clapping along I found myself holding my hand in the air and snapping. Not sure if there is a better phrase for that.
