I'm a drummer as well, and his licks are just tiresome to me.

Monster to me would be Dave Weckl or Dave Grohl. Listen to this Image, compare Grohl's playing on that to Chad Smith and tell me who the monster is.

*shrug* Oh, well. Takes all kinds. 8-)


Got me there. Songwriting aside, I have nothing but good things to say about Grohl's drumming.
In general I can't stand all the "magic tricks" associated with whatever instrument you may be playing. It's fine when you can play cliche 1-10 better than anyone. The trick is doing it about .001 of the time.

I saw Bubbles from The Wire in my gym last night.

He was rocking shades inside and a large bandana. It sorta looked like him but then he took off the shades and bandana and there was no doubt.

Just checked IMDB and he's filming some B-movie in Atlanta right now.

I shoulda started yelling "WHITEY SALE!!".
