Hey, the body moves on. Actually Taylor is one of the really old people who has retained a certain beauty. Here's a pic where she's much older than in the unfortunate leftover fruit salad pic above.

I disagree. The point about Axl is he's obviously trying to hold on to his youth despite being old, fat, and bald. If he dressed aged appropriately and stopped the plastic surgery, I don't think people would care much. He looks ridiculous. Look how cool Nick Lowe still looks. Axl needs to quit with faded jeans, unbuttoned low shirts, bandanas, and long hair.

He's a shade away from Phil Specter who is still trying to convince people he's not bald.

Elizabeth Taylor was going to get old. She looks like a grandmother. Maybe a little bit of clownish make-up but otherwise she looks about like she should. It's not depressing to me that people grow old. n

On the flip-side, you can also take the "homeless man" approach of Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Tell the world, I don't give a fuck about what you think I should look like and people will still respect you.

Yes, everyone does get old. It's not that she is growing old, but it's how she's grown old. Although, I do agree that she looks a lot better in Harry's pic than she does in Marco's (the one that I posted).
Look at Lauren Bacall or Emmylou Harris or Gregory Peck or Paul Newman for folks that just went with the age thing, and still looked great, even as they looked old.

Of course, there is a major double standard, not only for the sexes, but also for celebrities. Yes, I am aware of that, as I think that we all are.




Oh and, yeah, I am sure that Emmylou had some work done, too. But still... DAYUM!

I don't think Lauren Bacall looks any better than Taylor. Emmylou Harris is an exception that proves the rule. In my opinion, Helen Mirren has done the best job of growing old correctly. I'd say gracefully but that just doesn't seem to apply to her.
