but seriously though, 30 burgers in 30 days?

a purse full of vicodin would do the trick much faster

I think I could do 30 burgers in 30 days...but it would require eating only one meal a day for a month.

<ciao>

It's kinda good to be back. We've been pummeled with hundreds of inches of snow and ice just like everyone else, and with the holidays on top of that, it was just a wee bit hard to coordinate driving all over east central Indiana looking for foodnerd stuff. Mona Lisa was pleasant yet enigmatic with a sense of overall harmony, reflecting the idea of a link connecting humanity and nature.

A beautiful bounty, laid out in still life fashion, as it were. Expiration dates mostly good. A barren tundra lay mere feet from the window.
Image

Frying pancetta, or the italian bacon. I couldn't help wondering if that was what a cross section of a certain part of the Vitrupian man might look like.
Image

The Mona Lisa. Shera made her salad version and the kids had chunks of pancetta before destroying the living room.
Image

As a post-script, this is what we drank due to an intense weekend of a whiskey shots, party drama and rug destroying stomach purges. I'm getting too old for this shit.
Image

The Mona Lisa was a good burger to be back on. Not my favorite, but not a stinker either. Flubbed two of the ingredients - got Italian cured olives instead of Sicilian, and an olive batard instead of ciabatta - but I doubt the difference in taste was anything to write a popular conspiracy theory novel about. I'm not a fan of gorgonzola cheese, as it tastes to me what I imagine shoe polish to taste like. But the rest of the burger was benissimo and I ate it with snow peas.

Easily the least appetizing you've made so far. I'm not a fan of gorgonzola/blue on burgers, i think i'm allergic to raw red onions, sundried tomatoes are chewy and tend to overwhelm the flavor of whatever they're in, and the olive ciabatta just sounds over the top. But hey, is that Thom Yorke?

Fem G made a Gorgonzola Rissotto last week which was damn good. I didn't think I was a big fan of it but I guess I am. Not sure I'd like it as much on a burger.

I had a damn fine burger last week at Laurent Tourondel's new Hollywood Burger Joint, Go Burgers. Was their Super Bowl Special, Lambeau Leap -- 1/2 lb. Kobe Burger topped with a 1/2 inch fried patty of Mac & Cheese, Bacon and Carmelized Onions on a Pretzel Roll. Was served with Fries cooked in Duck Fat and washed down with a Aztec Mocha spiked shake (Milagro Tequila, Coffee Ice Cream, Cayenne Pepper and Chocolate Syrup). FUH. I win.

Yeah that's exactly what they did and then put that on top of the burger.

I love duck fat fries. Haven't had them in a while, so that reminds me I should go the burger place that serves them soon. I can't place how exactly they taste different from normal fries in whatever fat they normally use, but them shits are just good.

blue cheese, biff patty, kettle chips, smoked pepper pork, sauteed onions, garlic mayo, buttered bun

in the spirit of this burger's superbowl-tailgate-jeepbro construction, i'll most likely pair this with a bud light

Man, I was at a restaurant a couple weeks ago and one of the appetizers I had was Brussel Sprouts cooked in duck fat. Fucking unreal.

Better for you than butter too.

I must seek these fries out.

I love duck fat fries. There's a place in the Quarter, The Green Goddess, that serves them. Amazing stuff.

And BG that burger sounded incredible.

Yeah that burger was a beast. I'm not usually a fan of the gourmet burger places. Your bill ends up being the same as you'd pay for steak frites at a neighborhood bistro but you're still eating a burger rather than a steak. That burger was worth it though and the fries were great too. I couldn't pinpoint what was different about them either. It's not like they tasted like duck as a result. Good nonetheless. And that shake was great too. I hate to think what the calorie count on that meal was.

<i have to pee but i dont wanna get up>

so brah...

Couch Potato was another burger slathered in those shoe-polish bleus that make me gag so very much, but with the addition of the salt and vinegar kettle chips, the gag offset was considerably noticeable. It's getting to the point where my body yearns for its bi-monthly fleshbomb like a junkie craving smack, and by Tuesday I'd foam at the mouth over a bile-covered patty on a herpetic bun.

And away we go:

Nothing goes better with the fading twilight of youth and the impending onset of obesity and chronic insipidity than an ice cold Bud.

The Couch Potato. Bro down on the quarter pound.
