I doubt Caputo's gonna pimp himself here, but here's an opportunity to support a longstanding boarder who just put out a seriously great album:

01. Make It Always Be Too Late (J.Currie)
02. Crestfallen (J. Pernice)
03. Rocket Man (E. John, B. Taupin)
04. Just Getting By (J. Currie)
05. The Rain Song (M. Caputo)
06. Hesitating Beauty (W. Guthrie, J. Tweedy)
07. Sleeping With The Lights On (M. Bronleewe, T. Lassen)
08. Waterloo Sunset (R. Davies)
09. Noise And Confusion (A. Wauters)
10. So Sad (D. Everly)
11. Once (R. Buckner)

Awesome. I even like the cover art.

My two cents: this is much more than a covers album. The vocal harmonies are so awesome that they raise the bar on even the most well-known songs. This is my favorite version of "Waterloo Sunset", for example - seriously, for me it beats the original. They even find an extra layer of melody in "Rocket Man", fer chrissakes. And when they work their magic on the lesser known songs they absolutely own them. And the one Caputo original fits in perfectly alongside a clutch of classics. Expect a mellow, late night vibe - and there's not much better. A total triumph.

I've always found it mildly amusing and a tad ironic that someone who makes a living delivering letters has a near zero ability to read or even communicate.

Because this thread has garnered more attention than Dalen's label or 10 years of Poptodd releases?

Going through this track by track. This is beautifully done.

Great telecaster and steel on the original.

I agree with Rads on this one - especially the spectacular harmonies. Excellent version of "Rocket Man," which is difficult to do, given how often it's been covered over the years.

Nice work Mcap!

Sounds, well..........pretty. Not shocking given much of how your taste has skewed over the years. (harmonies are KING)

You should be proud of it. Good stuff hoss.

This is great everyone. Really. Much appreciated.
Also, I wanted to thank Rads for posting the info about the reckid. I am indebted sir. It's funny cos I never expect these things to work out, but today has been a little overwhelming and to top it off, the unimaginable support from the OB has made it even better. This evening, I'm feeling very thankful.

Thanks again.

Eta salute,

Listening now and, yes, I am jealous that I cannot make a production that sounds as good as this. Sounds great, Mark!
And, as mentioned many times already... great harmonies!

You gonna do any shows behind this project?

Also, dork time, I see a Les Paul and a hollow body Gibson. What else did you use on there?

And is that an Epiphone acoustic that Al is playing? What kind?

I STILL need to get a decent acoustic.

...and I shall, accommodate dork time.

Acoustic

1967 Gibson J-45 (skinny neck, but with the unexpected deep sound. Love this guitar)
1938 Martin 000-18 'Pre-war' Acoustic
2006 Gibson Songwriter Deluxe (big deep sound. great sustain)....has become my everyday guitar

1965 Epiphone John Lennon re-issue wasn't used on any of the recordings, just rehearsing.

Electric

1959 Gibson 345
1954 Fender Esquire
1952 Fender Tele Hot Rod
1991 Les Paul Studio - used it for basics with the plan of tracking over later. I did use it on Noise & Confusion for solo/backwards. Not crazy about this guitar. I want my '74 Gold-Top Standard back.

I did play Satriani's Red 'Surfing With The Alien' guitar on Sleeping With The Lights On. (repeating single note part that starts the song) This guitar was a gift from Joe to John C commemorating the 20 yr anniv of 'Surfing'.

What's your preference and how much do you have to spend ? re - acoustic

Thanks for asking. Yep, planning on doing some gigs. Waiting for Al & The Rubinoos to get back from Japan. We'll prolly start rehearsing end of the month, early March.

Whoa. I see we're a fan of the vintage gear. That's an embarassing wealth of guitar goodness right thurr.

Ehh. The reason I asked about the Epiphone was because I briefly flirted with getting one of the Epi Masterbilt's a few years back but the money ended up going to more pressing matters.

I still play acoustic on the cheap starter guitar I got when I first started playing in college. I don't need something in the universe that you're operating at but I could feel good about spending $7-$800 (case included) on one eventually when the coffer allows.
