Here's a quickly compiled bunch of BOC songs from their first 3 albums. I've omitted most of their Spinal Tap moments, but a few still shine through - and I don't think there's any cowbell to be heard.

I put the songs from their debut (Blue Oyster Cult) at the end of the mix, because they're the old analog-digital transfers and the sound quality isn't anywhere near the other two.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/j340s3

Tracklist:

1. The Red and the Black - Tyranny and Mutation, 1973
2. Baby Ice Dog- Tyranny and Mutation
3. Mistress of the Salmon Salt (Quicklime Girl) - Tyranny and Mutation
4. O.D.'d on Life Itself - Tyranny and Mutation
5. Boorman The Chauffeur - (Secret Treaties outtake)
6. Mommy - (Secret Treaties outtake)
7. Career of Evil - Secret Treaties, 1974
8. Subhuman - Secret Treaties
9. Dominance and Submission - Secret Treaties
10. ME 262 - Secret Treaties
11. Flaming Telepaths - Secret Treaties
12. Astronomy - Secret Treaties
13. Then Came The Last Days of May - Blue Oyster Cult, 1973
14. She's As Beautiful As A Foot - Blue Oyster Cult
15. Transmaniacon MC - Blue Oyster Cult

And a trivia note: the lyrics of "Baby Ice Dog" and "Career of Evil" were written by Patti Smith

Sweet, this will be downloaded tomorrow. And while you listen to the mix, you have to watch Stoned Age.

This mix was totally worth doing, if only for temporarily shaking Red Peter out of his tree.

I know you wanted to limit this to the first three albums and all, Uncle Monger, but would it have killed ya to throw "Dancin' in the Ruins" on at the end?

Nah, I'm full of shit. But "Take Me Away" would have been nice...

Yikes, blast from the past. Here's the updated BOC mix:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MF638LOT

Tracklist:

1. Transmaniacon MC - Blue Oyster Cult, 1972
2. Then Came The Last Days of May - Blue Oyster Cult
3. She's As Beautiful As A Foot - Blue Oyster Cult
4. The Red and the Black - Tyranny and Mutation, 1973
5. Baby Ice Dog- Tyranny and Mutation
6. O.D.'d on Life Itself - Tyranny and Mutation
7. Mistress of the Salmon Salt (Quicklime Girl) - Tyranny and Mutation
8. Career of Evil - Secret Treaties, 1974
9. Dominance and Submission - Secret Treaties
10. ME 262 - Secret Treaties
11. Flaming Telepaths - Secret Treaties
12. Astronomy - Secret Treaties
13. Revenge of Vera Gemini (w/ Patti Smith) - Agents of Fortune, 1975

15. Boorman The Chauffeur - (Secret Treaties outtake)
16. Betty Lou's Got A New Pair Of Shoes - (pre-BOC Soft White Underbelly demo)

In those early days, BOC used Patti Smith as well as Sandy Pearlman (producer of the Clash Give 'Em Enough Rope) and R. Meltzer (writer and leader of 70's punk band Vom) as lyricists.

I should put together a 1980's BOC tenner. Throw "Shooting Shark" on there and let everyone recoil in horror. Maybe even make it cruel and unusual punishment by adding "Perfect Water."
