A bit of a let down. And no one cares anyway. But I put it out.

why didn't you write more? the hard work is making the list, the payoffs should be the discussion. kid a? madvillian that high? that max richter's only been out for a few months, hasn't it?

I wrote 10 huge reviews and then I got bored.

Kid A I think is almost undsiputed. I think Madvillainy is probably the best "independent" hip hop released in many years. Max Richter came out in like Feb

It's all about favorites my man.

yeah, kid a is undisputed, so to make it at all interesting then you should say WHY it's the tiptop of the decade. Madvillainy is great but the beats are actually outshined by this Quas album, i think. favorites or no favorites, if it's a list then it's just a lifeless list. it's all about the presentation.

I'm surprised that you like this record better than their first record.
I think BOC 'Music Has The Right...' is much better.

oh well.

and yeah, both Quas albums have better beats than Madvillainy on the whole. But DOOM outraps Madlib any minute of any day of the week.

G_Peve, I said it "doesn't have the same effect"...which means I like "Music Has The Right To Children" more. It's my favorite electronic release ever, in fact.

not trying to make you feel bad about it. and yeah, doom kills it, but he almost makes it seem so easy that it's unimpressive.

Haha. No worries. After Madvillain, "The Unseen" is probably like my 3rd favorite Stones Throw release.

The demos for Madvillainy are better than the actual record. Have you heard any of the demo tracks?

Awesome to see these on your list, they don't seem to get as much respect on half decade lists as the others. My list would probably have at least half your list on too.

Ash though? They're a singles band. All you need is Intergalactic Sonic 7"s

Yeah, that album, more than any album ever made me want to start a band, because it was so much fun. I don't know. It's mainly memories attached to it, yet I still listen to it pretty often, and I enjoy it a ton.

I would consider these too if I made a list

Badly Drawn Boy - Hour of the Bewilderbeast
Primal Scream - XTRMNTR
Beck - Sea Change
Doves - Lost Souls
Exploding Hearts - Guitar Romantic
Interpol - TOTBL (cliched I know)
Pulp - We Love Life
QOTSA - Rated R

I feel the same way about that Exploding Hearts album as you do about that Ash album.

Well, all considered. "Lost Souls" barely missed. And QOTSA other album was #31.

This should have been way higher than this. And there should have been more Shipp on this list, period. The most important jazz artist of the last 25 years, alongside John Zorn, Dave Douglas, and Brad Mehldau.

Good call on Fog's Ether Teeth. That is through and through an outstanding, though understated, and altogether underrated work of brilliance and beauty. It's raw, it's flawed, and I love it.
