Off the top of my head, I'm thinking I'd pick one of the following:

Ted Leo - The Tyranny of Distance
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway
Jim White - Drill a Hole in That Substrate and Tell Me What You See

I'm probably forgetting a couple dozen. I will revise my list, should those come to mind...

What would your finalists be?

Would probably also have to include these among my candidates:

The White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Pedro The Lion - Control
Beulah - Yoko

I'm thinking one of these:
Joe Pisapia - Daydreams
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus
Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It

I tried with Pedro the Lion but his albums always bored me. Control was probably the most enjoyable album. Achilles Heel was so terrible.

I remember getting 1 1/2 songs into that turd and being overwhelmed with shame at having brought it into my house.

Ha. I think I tried to give Achilles Heel away to an Obner. I think I even offered to pay for postage if they would take it. I don't think there was any takers.

Mine would look a lot like this if you swap Animal Collective "Feels" for Deerhoof.

I came SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close to including this, but it's a virtual dead-heat for me between that and Z.

That is a fucking awesome list, Rads, by and large. Separation Sunday was another one I came very, very close to considering.

I'd add the Libertines S/T, White Blood Cells, Gimme Fiction to these and that would be my top list.
